Seems to me that when Sammy’s started opening gigantic new restaurants in different locations that may have been the beginning of the end. There was a time when Highland was one of the busiest restaurants in town. Always packed. Maybe they got greedy and overdid it.

Also what’s the scoop on the old house/property next to the P-Ville location? Heard Sammy’s group bought it. Wasn’t it supposed to be an event center or something? Just seems like they threw around a ton of money, particularly in P-Ville.

That whole property was Twin Oaks and Robert Penn Warren lived in it while teaching at LSU and wrote most of All The Kings Men in it. It’s on the National Historic Register. They built the restaurant on a portion of the property and were going to use the house for an event center. Not sure if that ever bore fruit.

That prime rib po boy was the best when the place was still good, but that's several years ago.

Can remember when the first Zachary location was next to Ambrosia. The food was good then too.

Both locations of that restaurant are very over rated anyway. Good riddance and I hope a good restaurant takes its place in Prairieville. Maybe a good Mexican or steak place.

Sammy was going to turn it into a Robert Penn Warren-themed restaurant.

Unfortunately, there was neither world enough, nor time.

You’ve got to me kidding. There are at least 5 Mexican joints on airline between Mi Padres and El Meskal on Airline alone. I’m not even counting the ones within a mile in either direction on the cross streets. Probably another 5-6 at least within that stretch. And that doesn’t include taco trucks.

No, he lost his CEO & entire mid management team for one reason or another. Brought in a couple of clowns that sold him some BS he believed, & alas the titanic is taking on water!
Sammy had a fantastic crew several years ago lead by JJ, it went downhill from there.

Going to go to some dude’s house to “collect” a six figure payment huh?

Clearly a hypothetical because why would a McDonald’s cashier need to do that, but I would love to see it Mr Message Board Bad arse

The absolute worst bloody mary I have ever tasted came from Sammy's on Highland around 2004. Absolutely terrible. I didn't know it was possible to frick up a bloody mary that badly

It’s sad what happened to this place. It used to be my go to for lunch or to bring people from out of town for crawfish and a decent menu with an array of choices. It started going downhill a number of years ago and I can’t tell you the last time I actually went in there.

I wish Mason's would buy the highland location. I think it would translate well.

I’d rather Parrains, personally. If we are talking about an already existing similar style restaurant moving in.

Ive gone to people's houses for hundreds of dollars before.
I removed the power meter on a business and tossed it in a yard over $500.

For a 100k I would probably pay someone to hurt them.
