According to WAFB this guy sold two locations for $8,500,000 back in May and was leasing them back.
How can a guy who had that much money that recently not make payroll? Did he set up a poorly-funded company to lease those locations and stow the $8.5 million away? Or is there some other, less financially-savvy thing going on?

Jesus . Sammy’s has the formula LOCKED DOWN in an incredibly hard business to be in. I hate to see it fail. I have a lot of family memories there as all my kids liked it and it was a decent value and the food was consistently good. All the haters ( competitors excepted) that take pleasure in this crap annoy me.

Pretty sure Cabana is hemorrhaging money and that’s one of the problems

In mid 2000's, Sammy's was untouchable.

The one in central was not crowded prior to shutdown. It actually rarely had people towards the end

I brought my family and friends to Sammy’s in Pville last Sunday (12/22) and at 1:00 was a ghost town. They literally were using paper menus because they have not had a food truck in over a month! And they only had like 10 menus in total (had to wait for another table to return menus so we can view them), when we ordered, waitress came back a few minutes later that they were out of a dressing for salad, out of butterfly shrimp, and something else. I mean, terrible experience. No more sammys for us, even if they ‘reopen’

Hopefully Sammy sells the franchise and it relaunches under new owners. The problem will be that no new owner wants to inherit the massive debt that I’m sure has accumulated

Almost certainly, he didn't fully own the property. Who knows what he cleared on those transactions.

If I was a small business owner and this guy stiffed me for $100k, I’d be hard pressed not go “collect it” at his house

I think so, or maybe it was Seigen?? It's been too long, I only filled in as MGR when they needed help for brief stints. It was in a strip center, on the west side of the road. I remember weird shite, like the floating KM John got a BJ from the Redrum rep in the walk-in. It was also the location where the Manager faked a robbery/stickup with her boyfriend before she was eventually caught.
Zachary was the 1st location, till Jeff burned it down. Highland, Perkins and Jones Creek. I graduated and moved away after that

It was Jones Creek. In the shopping center on the corner of Tiger Bend. A buddy of mine managed there in the late 90s.

ok thanks
my memory fades
I spent most of my years between Perkins and Highland. That one on Jones Creek was such an outlier
