How ever could this happen? Sammy is endorsed for "Strategic Planning" by two people on LinkedIn!

Just people coming and going to play volleyball.
Very few actual dollars being spent there.

I guess the sale of the property and lease back was a desperate bid for cash flow and too little too late.

I never understood the zeal with which commercial landlords seek to evict established tenants.

Sammy's food sucks. That is why they are closing.

Well, when they're not paying rent, I'm sure it gets a little easier to want to evict them.

1) Without knowing how much Is overdue hard to call the a landlord out for “zeal”
2) If 2 locations with different landlords are seeking eviction then thats a pretty bad sign.

The volleyball part has been quite popular.
Creole also hosts private parties.
The standalone restaurant has not gained much traction despite having decent food

Jason was the brains behind Sammys and Steve Bonfanti was the money.
Tunnel vision Sammy fired Jason and Bonfanti died and that started the slow death of Sammys and they will not recover. Meanwhile Jason is killing it in St. Francisville. Good for him, he deserves it

I’m talking an established business that has a long history of paying rent. Of course the tenant has to pay rent but why not give a little leeway when appropriate. Is the landlord going to find a more financially stable tenant in BR than Sammy’s? I’ve seen this type of thing before. Landlord zealously evicts a good tenant but then never finds a new tenant who can afford that rent, and the property spirals into a cycle of new tenants.

True.
I didn’t even read the article.

Sammy only sold the properties 2 years ago. Prior to that, he owned the property outright. So there is no real history of rent payment.

I think this has been going on for some time. He stopped paying for the construction at Creole Cabana well before it was finished but allegedly said he was about to get some money somewhere, or was buying out a partner, or some other bullshite. That was probably a year and a half ago.
Once it makes the papers, it's been a long time coming.

If a business ever gets to the point of missing pay days for employees it’s already got a foot in the grave. Might as well kick them out now than have them continue to miss rent payments for the next year or more

How can you take one of BRs most successful long standing restaurants and F it up this bad whereas you can’t even pay the rent?
Geeeez
