I like going to Disneyworld. Especially since Star Wars shite is out. Our kids are grown and we took them every year when they were kids. Our enjoyment was seeing our girls enjoy the experience. Then we slowly found out that we get away from every worry in the world while we are there. It's like you get transported to a land of "don't give a frick". Everybody is nice and happy. We will bring our grandkids one day and we will get to relive the fun of bringing our kids. But only it will be the grandkids. I mean being a child where you didn't have a care in the world was pretty awesome. You get to do that there if only for a minute. And that's kind of awesome. It's clean as hell, staff is NEVER rude or insulting (I'm positive they are all gay). I've been all over the world and Disney is not that bad. It's pretty neat actually. It is indeed a tiring vacation though especially with young children.

Spot on.

I recall when I begged for Star Wars to happen again in the late 80s. I had to get a follow up for episode VI. I had watched the original 3 entirely too much.

Now I am lost.

We took our daughter when she was 3.She loved it. After that I told my wife that in the future we are investing our vacation time in places that are real, such as the Grand Canyon,Rocky Mtn Nat Park, gold panning, horse back riding in the mtns.,fly fishing and such. Ever since Disney locked away "Song of the South" I realized that Disney is the enemy.Look at Star Wars,ESPN,ABC, and now Marvel. Next year we plan to go to Iceland.

The season tickets thing keeps coming up.

I do search for the point of diminishing returns there. After the Saints won the Super Bowl, I kept them another year or two before I decided to watch from home. Had USM tickets for a few years, but once they started pushing that ridiculous "conference" crap I got out.

Driving to and from the games kind of sucks now, too, with all the alcohol rules and ridiculous Family Trucksters.

Some people would say I'm a bad fan. I think those people are weird- maybe not as weird as the Disney drones, but right up there.

It can be that much, but last time we went it was around $3k for a family of 4 for a full week. That was the entire budget, including gas getting there and back, and extra spending money.

If you’re staying at the Grand Floridian and going all out on dining plans, sure.

We went in May for about $750/person for 4 days.

it’s not about the money.
I spent about 9K over a two week vacation in Colorado this summer just the wife and I. But we saw things that no man could ever manufacture or curate...the humbling glory of the natural world, plus we ate and drank like royalty and our “rides” were zip lines, white water rafts and day long hikes

a vacation inside a fricking gift shop holds no appeal to me.

I'm not going to rip anyone who takes young kids. But, there is a 25 year old attorney a few doors down from me that has a number of Mickey ears up on her office mantle. I mean,

I have a couple who I'm friends with that's like this...I think it's weird as hell, but it's their thing so whatever. BUT they don't have kids... this took a turn for the twisted when the girls Christmas present made her cry

yeah i don't get it

i somewhat get nostalgia, but as a nostalgia-based thing. like putting in Labirynth or Dark Crystal once a year

making nostalgia and kiddie stuff your daily focus seems insane to me. how can you function as an adult? and i say this as a person with peter pan syndrome. but i enjoy grown up things and interests and even my "child" interests like sports can be put aside for long periods of time and don't dominate my life anymore

I spent as much taking my family to Gatlinburg this summer as I ever did taking them to Disney. And I have never spent 7-9k at Disney.

We’re taking our girls in 2021, and will most likely do a lot of the princess breakfast and meet and greet type stuff and probably won’t even ride any rides.
You're taking your kids to DisneyWorld but they won't ride any rides?

Yea, ok.

Yeah, you don't have to buy every thing and stay at the nicest hotels.

I went with a group of friends 2 years ago when LSU was playing. Between the game and universal, I didn't spend shite. Tickets to the Bama game would have been more than that trip.

Granted I wasn't paying for an entire family, but I also didn't spend 1k on myself, which is what some of these people are saying it cost.
