You know what congress should do?
They should make it really fricking hard to pass the driving test. Make it like flying an airplane. You have to have a certain amount of flight/driving hours before you can even go alone and you have a serious exam to pass.
You know who would hate that? 15 and 16 year olds who can't vote.
You know who would love that? Everyone already on the road and people who outrageous car insurance prices.

They let people rob up to $1000 with no repercussions and then throw this in there?

I don't see what having an abortion has to do with smoking a cigarette.
Regarding the smaller picture--The age was set. And I am against taking freedoms away from adults.

What if..to balance this out, they raised the age of being an adult to 21. So all people who were under 21 and did a crime, will retroactively be tried as a juvenile?..
And all pornography with any girls who are 18 to 20 is now CP?

quote:Why?
I think 18 is a good number for voting and court.
quote:Lol no. Voting decisions made generations ago affect me today. They’ll affect my children and grandchildren. I could give two fricks about how much 18 year olds are affected by elections. So are 5 year olds. So are people who won’t be born for a century. Allowing people who’s brains aren’t even fully formed yet to make decisions that affect the future of this country is insane. Hell, you can’t even rent a fricking car until you’re 25. You can stay on your parents insurance till you’re 25. 25 just makes a lot more sense in every way.
18 year olds are definitely not as informed, but like it or not they are being affected by these elections. Prior to 18 elections are more affecting your parents directly than you as a minor.
Except the military of course. Like it or not this country needs 18 year olds who don’t understand the consequences of their actions in the military.
Oh and as to the topic at hand I’d lower the drinking, smoking and driving ages to 15 or 16.

If 18-21 year olds want to smoke, they should vote in larger numbers.
Posted on 12/19/19 at 4:16 pm to StickyFingaz
So your position is that it's ok to ingest into the lungs one type of smoke vs. another? Seems to be a a contradiction based on your beliefs/opinion that one substance inhaled is better than the other. Interesting. Smoke, being smoke, still smoke. Ok.

quote:Yeah I know. 18 year olds are so easily impressionable that they’ll believe pretty much anything. Even if it comes from some queer liberal arts professor.
Eh, they're being told by other clueless children (liberal arts professors) that it's a good investment. The student loan debacle is just another example of the government "protecting people" like this stupid arse law.

Oh, I forgot this tobacco sale law was sent out to a general vote. Goddamn, this thread is bringing out the biggest retards of the OT. We just need Oweo to chime in so our disability check trifecta is complete.

Big Tobacco personally lobbied for this to stem the tide of other regulations.
I disagree with it, just providing insight

Eh if you want to smoke or chew at 18 have it.
All I ask is that insurance companies be allowed to charge premiums accordingly if offering coverage at all for treatment of tobacco illness and be able to deny coverage if it’s determined that you lied on the application about your tobacco use.
Also, the federal govt NOT allow Medicare or Medicaid to pay ANYTHINGfor tobacco illness.
Tobacco use is a multi billion dollar drain on the nations healthcare system.
But other than that... feel free to do this to yourselves.

lol marijuana smoke and tobacco smoke are not the same. Educate yourself.
ETA and the point is that smoking weed has a benefit. Smoking cigarettes provides no benefit at all. You get addicted to nicotine and thus you must smoke. There is no noteworthy benefit at all.
