What they don't seem to be planning for is an extensive, unfiltered, unfettered, nationally televised cross-examination. They also don't seem to be accounting for the time (potentially up to super Tuesday) McConnell and the Trump Defense could occupy half the Democrat candidates, locking them in DC.

They think they've washed the landscape with Trump guilt enough in key areas to flip some seats in the Senate. I think they've grossly overestimated public support for impeachment, though.

I thought it has been said that members of Congress cannot be impeached because of some ruling in the 1800s. Otherwise, they would be getting impeached nonstop. That is why we vote for Representatives every two years, but the smart populace keeps voting the same SOBs back in.

Also, but for Mueller, impeachment, etc., Trumps approval rating would likely be over 60%.
The economy is roaring, record low unemployment, no new wars, reduction in the wars we are still in, etc....but for all of this mess influencing stupid people, he would be as popular as any modern president.
So, in that sense, this is working. It’s creating doubt.
Don’t forget, the Dems have no ideas.
