I don’t think it’s occurred to the lunatic left that the Senate isn’t going to convict.

To them, this is ballgame. Trump is done, gas up the moving vans, out he goes. When reality hits and he’s still there, I think the emotional letdown is going to be cataclysmic. Three years of “we got him” only to realize you never did is going to absolutely demoralize the Democratic base. Dems could get shellacked at the polls from coast to coast when they fail to deliver what they’ve promised for 4 years.

You couldn't be more wrong.
Democrats (even run of the mill Democrats) are energized by this. This is the new world we live in. Either we start fighting with the same methods as our opponents, or we die.
If/when this fails, they will still claim victory, and will go after him again.

Of course they are because the think the house impeaching = Trump being removed. They haven’t considered the other half of the process though. The senate not convicting and removing Trump will be crushing

What worries me is there is likely just as many republicans that could be implicated for crimes, and they’ll vote to remove Trump as well to save their own arse even if it means getting voted out of office

At minimum Nancy can say "I tried...but the Republicans will defend Trump no matter what. We need to get to the polls and vote them out".
She also played here USMCA card today so that she can say "see, we can impeach and pass bills. we aren't only about impeachment". CNN is already saying this.

The Ds probably know the Senate won’t convict, but are thinking that the ‘stain of impeachment’ is enough to cause voters to vote for anyone other than Trump.

]I think the dems are hoping for a quick acquittal & that is their angle here. Think about it. They “tried” to deliver for their base but the “bad” republicans (who are Putin stooges per the left & MSM) wouldn’t convict. I heard a contributor on Fox this am saying the senate should shoot this down quickly.sounds to me like that would be very beneficial for dems. It’s git to be their only play here. If that happens and they spin it like the Rs are covering for a corrupt Trump, seems like that would energize their base.

You have to have the majority in the HOR if this is to ever be a possibility. A second result of this is that the Dam majority in the HOR is far to the left. Voting for articles places them in that position. I'm not sure if our country wants to reside that far left. But we will find out soon enough.

I don’t think it occurred to them how Nadler, Schiff, and Pelosi may be impeached for abuse of power if the Republicans retake the House in 2020!
