Upsetting the presumptive favorite, Dr. Sleep. Deadline is reporting a roughly $20 million haul for the independently produced WWII action/drama from disaster film director Roland Emmerich.

Deadline article

I got off work early and decided to run down and see this one. There was too much going on in the film but overall I think it's a good waste of two hours. It's not the disaster some were predicting but it's definitely not Saving Private Ryan either.

I don't see why this would be considered an upset. Dr Sleep won't make much money at all.

will be so disappointed if this movie sucks

why cant anyone make decent WW2 movies, esp one of the greatest most intriguing battles in the war.

very frustrating....literally, a director could make a hall of fame career doing nothing but movies from WW2 with some of the most epic story lines in the history of mankind....I mean it literally is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU...all you have to do is put it on film. rant over

I can live with that, nothing can be, as long as its not Pearl Harbor level disaster.

I felt even Dunkirk missed the mark.

It didn’t suck but I didn’t think it was great and I expected better from Nolan.

Loved Saving Private Ryan, Enemy At The Gates, and Band Of Brothers.

The overuse of CGI looked awful in the trailer. Hopefully it wasn’t that bad in the actual movie

I hate that out of all of the creators in Hollywood, Michael Bay and Roland fricking Emmerich are the ones tackling subjects like Pearl Harbor and Midway.

Call me an old fuddy-duddy if you like, but there was nothing wrong with the original Midway which used scenes from Tora Tora Tora.

I'm Gen X btw, so skip that "OK Boomer" thought.

Midway script is laughably bad
Dick Best actor is awful
Movie is pretty well done, lots of CGI
I think they hit every single cliche and war movie trope they could think of
Entertaining, will watch again on TBS but that is it

I saw it today. It is an excellent, well-made movie. I highly recommend it, to all Americans.

But for most people, you’re considered a boomer even if it’s not factual
