The remainder of the material can be cut up and trucked out, I would guess fairly quickly.

Considering it's going to rain heavily today. I doubt that's the case.

Yeah, the cranes are down, but it's like stopping a car. You can use the break, or you can crash it into a tree. Either way, the car is stopped, but one method is much better than the other.

The problem with your analogy is that in this scenario, your car doesn't have breaks. Something was going to crash and frick shite up. The goal is to do it in a manner that didn't wreck the surrounding buildings nor injure someone else. Digging a crane off of Rampart is a better outcome than pulling it off the Saenger or another body. Bitching about this is like bitching about Sully b/c he landed in the Hudson, not back at LaGaurdia.

Obstacles now are pretty strong. That crane is laying across the top of the building, no longer attached. Now it needs to be cut into pieces? That's pretty damn tricky to accomplish without there being a weight shift.
This isnt over by a long shot.

Pretty sure the counter weight is no long attached so this isn't all that heavy. They can use a normal crane now to do what needs to be done with that piece.

Paint it metallic brown and tell the crackheads it's copper.

It'll be gone by 6AM.

‘Free Scrap’. You’ll have every crackhead in the city down there with their stolen Wal Mart basket. It’ll be gone in no time.

The elevator shaft steel is continuous from the roof to the 8th floor which I believe is the concrete parking garage. Every bay is either braced or a moment connection... at least according to the permit drawings. LINK... starting at sheet S3.10

If it doesn't swallow a grocery buggy, we have bigger pot holes that need more attention.

At around 43 seconds in the bottom right of this video, you can see someone riding around on a bicycle and two separate people run after them.

How does that even happen

I can't believe this. Only in NOLA will someone be riding outside of the bike lane! And down town no less!! Sad.

Brilliant. In case some folks don't realize why downspouts in the Quarter change from copper to anything else about fifteen feet above the sidewalks.

That's the top of the crane spiked into the street, got to be pretty deep to hold the 30-40 feet of broken crane upright... maybe a little lean

Yep, sure does. Great point, BTW. And should remind everyone that services such as police require taxpayer funding and when taxes are cut for the wealthy (who benefit from these and many other services) it puts a strain on the police, etc.

Someone has to get up there and rig it. The jib pivoted at mast so that’s another challenge rigging wise.

Any chance the shite weather moves the fallen jib off the elevator shaft and down to Canal?

The demo consultant I've been working with for the last 3 months doesn't quite see it that way. Its all about mitigating risk, they created more with what they left.
