Nola.com access to cost $120 a year
Everyone said this was coming when Advocate bought TP, even though it was denied at first.

And soon we'll offer a sports-only digital subscription for $4.99/month that will allow users access to our award-winning sports coverage (stay tuned for more details).

Yeah, there's no way that's a sustainable business model.

$120!!
Who the hell would pay for that?
That is more than an Amazon Prime membership.

More than Disney+ or Netflix.

Subscription cost will drop to $0 in six months when it goes bust.

So this means I'm done going to nola.com.

an entire article trying to explain the justification of paying for their news website when others for the same city remain free
frick you NOLA.com. You want me to pay you $10 a month to read news off your site in 2019?

no one is going to pay that. You MIGHT get some people who sign up for the 4.99 sports only.

RIP.
Still have a signed TP tshirt from Walt Handelsman When I took a field trip there where he drew Bill Clinton saying 'Have fun at Jazz Fest' on it.

The advocate’s website is terrible. Ads galore. I miss the old nola.com

I wonder if you can get the news only for 5 bucks. They can keep the sports.

Their employees better polish up their resumes.

Feel like most here will just stick to the O-T lounge to get the cliffs on their stuff

Not saying i agree with it, but would it be sustainable to keep it free like it was?
Also, i’m really, really curious to know- if i pay the $120 a year, will i be able to read the articles ad-free?? I kinda doubt it.

Where do y'all think news comes from? How do you pay reporters? Y'all seem to think you should get news without paying for it in some form or fashion

yeah, it's called ad revenue
Pretty sure I don't have WAFB or WBRZ on my payroll and they supply me with news just fine. WWL also has a solid website that isn't asking me for $120 a year to view

Exactly these people are getting too greedy. Stick with the AD revenue
