Not going to lie, if Chicken put this together I'd seriously start looking at flights. That would be entertaining as hell.

Why does this whole debacle sound like an episode of Seinfeld?

Hangtit
"County sheriff's are positioned at every turn. At our first turn, something begins it irk me. I'm a patriotic guy. Love this country and support our troops and police force. But I'm also one to roll my eyes at the hyper-patriotism that is sometimes prevalent. As we pass the first sheriff the guy right behind me yells out "Thank you sir!". Cool, no problem. Then we pass another sheriff. And another. And this guy won't shut up. And I just keep thinking to myself, "what a dweeb". This guy kept my a pace for the entire race."
Sure reads that way. He was "Irked" even before the guy thanks the officers. Maybe being a novice runner he's never heard of the Boston Bombers and that police protection at public events is the norm now.

OP clearly meant he was mad at the "over thanker" not the police. They are at every race and I can't stand them either. They do help your time though because you are motivated to pick up the pace to get past them.
Congrats OP. You'll be more sore the second day. Stretch a lot.

If each runner had to wear their user name (no real names), it might possibly make for the funniest and longest thread of all time

That would be chock full of awesome.

Bob Scearce, He was miffed at the runner that was going overboard to kiss the arse of every person there with a badge. It was a little over the top, and not necessary.
Nothing in his statement aimed any ill will toward any deputies.

OP wins!!!!!!!
I love this thread. I agree with everyone else - you have to tell her what you did. Girls would go nuts over a story like that.

You inspired me to do a 5k. I signed up for one on Nov 2nd. I haven’t run since high school (I’m 32), and the only physical activity I do is walk 9 holes of golf every other week or so and play in a kickball league. I have a desk job so I do A LOT of sitting.
I went for my first run yesterday, was able to jog almost 6 minutes straight, a lot of it uphill, before having to walk. I was dying after that first 6 minute jog. I have a lot of work to do. My goal is to beat your 27.40 time. Thanks for the inspiration!

It's OK. "She" lied to you too. Wait until you get in bed to have sex -- you'll find out what she lied about.

A Tigerdroppings 5k charity race would be interesting. From my race experience, 500 participants was more than enough for a festive time. Surely 500+ of you baws would come out. I would even make my way down to Louisiana.
Kipchoge would have nothing on the OT in a 5K

Should have sprinted to get away from him.

This was a good read.
The Inaugural TD shite on BR 5k Run.
I wonder how many laps around Cortana (RIP) is a 5k?
Or maybe we could run the new (har) bridge EB and the finish line could be at the only place in 2,470 miles that I-10 is ONE frickING LANE!!!!
Possibly a route through the Presidents Streets will motivate folks to move faster?
So many possibilities.
Usernames on the race bibs.
Gotta go that route.
