What type of food is lacking most in your town?

There's a lot of great places to eat, and a lot of variety, but there are a few types of food that are either impossible to find or aren't done well.
Prior to 2-3 years ago, I would have said BBQ, but there's been a much needed explosion of solid BBQ restaurants that have filled that void.
For me (Boston), I'd say Tex Mex. There isn't a single restaurant that does Tex Mex up here, even a crappy version of it. Sometimes a man just needs some enchiladas.

BBQ in BR. We've got more than we used to but nothing spectacular.

We’ve got great food in and around Jackson but lacking with really good pizza places

I miss Black Forest and that German place on Highland where the Pho place is now.

I enjoyed Jagerhaus in New Orleans, but apparently they closed down (quite telling)...
But if I could get exactly what I wanted, I'd love a place with a large variety of Pilsners, Hefeweizens, and Bocks served in the appropriate glasses, with an interior that looks something like what's pictured below. Yeah, I know it's gimmicky...kind of like a Bavarian version of the Londoner. I'd like that.
For food, the basic saurkraut and bratwurst will do in addition to mustards, pumpernickel, pretzels, pastries, and cake.
We just don't have the right kind of population for it. See the midwest, and parts of Texas can pull it off.

Overall i wish that baton rouge had more local good resturants....a local resturant district downtown would be great
But the DDD is so lame you will never see this....

Im west of Atlanta but authentic Jewish style delis are few and far between. Several good/great ones ITP but the burbs are sorely lacking...

I cannot say no to Korean fried chicken.
If anyone has a rec for Nola or BR I'm all ears.

Have you been to Luvi? It’s phenomenal.
A new Omakase place is opening soon called Nagomi in the Bywater by Chef Kaz...I’m hoping to make it very shortly after they open

And you’re complaining about this. Tex mex thrives in derelict communities, Boston does not want to be in that number.

I’d love a good German or Korean restaurant in Shreveport.
The army introduced me to a variety. Stuff I just can’t reproduce at home.

I hear you, but the bottom line is one place I almost always hit up when I go back home is Superior Grill.
There are plenty of great places that do tacos, and I really enjoy them. But they’re “fancier” and typically smaller, and much more expensive.
Something great about a giant messy plate of fajitas or enchiladas and a large margarita for cheap.
