Televangelists and the people who defend them

Is there a single one who isn't a complete fraud?
We have an entire industry of charlatans who get on TV, pretend to preach, and then beg you for money. They're hookers dancing for your dollar bills. Why do more Christians not condemn the behavior of hookers like Joel Osteen and Benny Hinn?
How could anyone support these clowns, or even worse give them money?

The real question is....How could anyone give any church money in any form?

Redemption is a powerful thing. Taking advantage of that is pretty scummy, but I can see why people are willing to toss money at these people.

Some people are so lost in the world that they cling on to these people as their only source of hope and inspiration. It is pretty sad, really.

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

It’s a mystery
Only guess it makes them feel good that they listened to someone pretend to be god fearing, but didn’t have to get out of bed to do it.

Absolute scum the lot of them. I have never understood how anyone can follow them

I don't think I've met a single person who has ever tried defending Benny Hinn. Joel Osteen is also one of the most criticized people in the church world, so I'm really not too sure what you're getting at.
Osteen has some defenders because he makes his money from his book sales and doesn't take a salary from Lakewood.
ETA: Obviously that doesn't help him much because people still hate him.

Not familiar with Hinn but I’ll condemn Osteen and Swaggart. I won’t make a blanket statement and say they’re all crooks. I sure don’t think Billy Graham was a crook.

Some of clowns aren't even preaching redemption. Joel Osteen just tells poor people to give him money so that God will make them rich.

If you are going to try and be a Christian then prosperity gospel is the easiest to subscribe to and live by. That is my theory.

People want to see what makes them feel good. These televangelists make their people feel good. So those people do what they say and ignore anything that contradicts with their perceived reality

Many do. Unfortunately, Osteen and his ilk tickle the ears of their congregations and TV audience by telling them what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear. Many people fall for it. Wolves in sheep's clothing.
I did some work for this older gentleman several years ago. He told me that he never was one for going to church, but that he watched Joel Osteen on the TV and sent money to him. I just shook my head.

I give a donation annually to my Buddhist temple. They take a vow of poverty and aren't even allowed to buy shoes without permission. Why wouldn't I give them a donation so they can continue temple life?
Pecker-this is before your time, but the late evangelist Oral Roberts used to have a Sunday morning tv show where he pleaded for money with a theme song that promised that "something good is going to happen to you" that would just set my old man OFF, lol.

Because the ‘Christians’ who go to mega churches don’t give a shite

"Plant a seed."
But pastor, I cannot afford to tithe to the church.
Nope. You can't afford not to.

Forgot to use my sarcasm font on this one. And correct grammar.
