Played Sawgrass in September and asked the caddy who was the worst tipper on tour and he said Kuchar

Yeah. That's petty. $65k shoulda gone to the local caddy.

Who are all these caddies coming out of the woodwork talking about Kuchar being cheap? I’m pretty sure he uses his own caddy (wood...remember him as a guest contributor to the weekly “PGA tour confidential” on golf.com. In the pro-am I played in, all the pros had their regular caddies, and this was Houston. I’m guessing their regular guys are on the bag for the fricking Pkayers championship. I’m smelling a lot of hearsay character defamation bullshite when the facts of the story are that Kuchar gave him more than the agreed upon amount. I’ll bet you at the beginning of the week that dude was over the moon about the $4k he was getting for the next weeks work and then he gets some slime ball in his ear telling him he got screwed over when that slime ball only cares about the story and gives zero fricks about the caddy himself. I wish Kuchar has just said “it’s my policy not to discuss business arrangements in public” and left it at thAt

The Tour players & caddies use the pro am as an additional practice round.

I know. The local caddies carry for the amateurs. My caddy was a teacher who only worked the event and rarely caddied otherwise and I tipped him, not the pro.

What does the players have to do with anything?

He tried that and continued to get roasted.

A dude showing up and carrying a bag for 3 1/2 hours for 4 days expecting $130k, $50k, or even $25k is ridiculous. Give me a break.

Thanks for confirming you know nothing about professional golf in a sentence.

Do you tip your servers more than 25%?
If I spend a week with the guy, or gal, and they carry my plates around the whole time and at some point I find a gold nugget in my food worth 1.3 million and it's the first nugget I've found in 4 years and I've already found 40+ million worth of gold nuggets in my lifetime then yes, I would tip them more than 25%.

You don’t have to tip them 25%. The real question is would you tip them more than 0.38%?

That’s really surprising as Matt has the nice guy rep. I guess he’s just a tightwad

I was responding to the guy who said he played sawgrass and the local caddie claimed Matt was cheap. I just don’t see a situation where Matt ever used a local caddie during that tournament, given its significance.

Kuch just made some comments and said he’s going to call El Tucan tonight and pay him the full total he requested.
Agent screwed this up by not taking care of it right away so they made something that should never have happened a story.

50k is a drop in the bucket for Kuchar. From a PR perspective it's worth it to offset all of the negative publicity he's received.
