Barry Alvarez knocked up a cheerleader in the early 90's.
Bert was a well known poon hound in Madison and had no issue bedding coeds. Supposedly the reason he left is because his new wife, the infamous Jen, didn't like running into his past conquests and/or constantly hearing about it. The claim was she didn't like Madison. Fayetteville is not an upgrade.
Saw him more than once out at a saloon called the Dry Bean pre marriage.

Fayetteville is one of the nicest college towns in the South, and maybe the best in the SEC (Athens probably right there with it).
I know Madison is quite nice as well, but it's not like he went to fricking Starkville or Baton Rogue. I always heard Bert leaving was due to Alvarez being a cheapskate and getting all the credit for the program (which he rightfully should have).
All I know is, Bert was a drunken slob at Arkansas and used to call his assistants out of bed at 2 am to come drive him home.
However, the best unfounded rumor about Bert is that Jen was actually a call girl in Vegas when Bert met her/hired her, and then they got married.
Now that's what I call a great CFB conspiracy theory.

The entire "how I met her" story was always shady.
This is what we know:
Bert said they met a a craps/blackjack table (can't remember which one) IN Vegas.
She apparently lived there. She is originally from Florida. She was in her mid-20s. No mention of her ever having a real job in Vegas or why she was there.
Bert said he told her he was a history professor at Wiscy. That was his big line...
