For who? Phils? I hope you don't mean us. The last thing we need is another mid-rotation arm.

Yay. Lets keep all 12 pitching prospects and not deal them for someone and then bring in a starter thats not a ace and not even have a spot for them to pitch.
fricking brilliant.

That makes little to no sense.

Keuchel in play apparently
So how and when do we go through the process of elimination with our pitching prospects if we're taking another 30+ years old pitcher ?
Posted on 2/7/19 at 3:36 pm to RollDatRoll
Keuchel is 31. Has been worth 3.6, 2.4, and 2.6 WAR the past three seasons.
Last year, the combination of Soroka, Touki, Wilson, Wright, and Fried were worth 1.3 million in 100 innings.
Basically if we sign Keuchel, he will be taking away the rotation spot for all these guys, unless we trade someone.
Does anyone think he will be an upgrade?

So where exactly did we improve this offseason?
Donaldson at 3B? That's all I got.

I could not commit more than 3 years for Keuchel.

I could commit zero for him. Do not want.

I agree. For 10% of the money they would spend on DK, sign James Shields, Erwin Santana or Gio Gonzalez to a minor league deal with an invite for ST and a couple of relievers like Romo and Adam Warren for the same.

2020 is our year!!!
FWIW, at the start of this rebuild 3-4 years ago 2019 was the year everyone circled and pointed to...last year everyone was screaming they were a year ahead of schedule because of the success...now all of sudden it's plug and play and go get 'em next year. lol

Braves ownership is acting like a private equity firm. Trying to squeeze every penny possible without spending one extra penny to do so.
All business no intrigue.

Yep. What a fricking joke. The Phillies will own the division.

So I haven't been paying close attention but why has management not done dick this offseason? Seems like we've just been sitting on arse all this time while the Phillies and Mets got better.
Unless we snag a strong pitcher, Harper, or Kimbrel this has been a total failure

Not to ownership. They haven't had to pay shite.

Liberty Media has nothing to do with this. They dont put money into the team and they dont get any of the profits, nor can they, because it would be breaking federal law.
All payroll comes strictly from what the Braves make yearly.

2019 could've been our year. Hell it might still be. I'm not advocating trading the farm, but what's wrong with trading a pitching prospect for an everyday catcher?
If I've read it right, here's the details from the Realmulto trade:
-JT to Phils
Marlins got:
-#6 overall RH pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez (injured most of 2018 with inflamed shoulder).
- Catcher Jorge Alfaro. 8 seasons in the minors, 3 in the MLB. In 3 MLB season he batted .270, 15 HR's, with a strike out percentage of 38%
- Single A pitcher Will Stewart. 4 seasons in the minors with a 3.20 ERA. He's never made it out of Single A.
Phillies owe JT $5.9 million.
So the nearest equivalent is the Braves would've needed to trade Soroka, Flowers (even though Tyler is much better than Alfaro), and De La Cruz. If this is correct, then Anthopoulus got his shite pushed in.

I think it’s clear they want to build organically and that last year they may have played a little over their head
