San Francisco ideas

Wife and I are going to San Francisco at the end of the month. Got tickets for a Giants game on Friday night and my wife bought tickets for an Alcatraz tour. Anyone got any additional ideas to spend the other 2.5 days. It will just be us two (30s something each). Will be there for LSU opener so if anyone knows a cool place to watch the game would be awesome too.

Bike across the Golden Gate, take the ferry back from Sausalito.
Sunset at Seal Rocks, have a drink at the Cliff House. Touristy but the sunset view is spectacular.
Go eat pizza at: Delfina, or Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in North Beach.
Ferry Building farmers market on Saturday.

Do y'all like beer? If so try Local, Blackhammer, and Triple Voodoo. The first two you can hit on the way to ATT Park assuming you are staying near union square.
SF has some good tours too. I did "Foodie Adventures" tour of North Beach and China town. They also do a Mission tour.
Also enjoyed the Real SF Tour. They take you all around the city and talk about the history. Really enjoyed it. Lots of photo ops. Lots of walking, though.

We did the big bus as a kind of catch all. Then, we explored the parts we wanted to see more of. Stay on the bus for the whole ride if you have a place up top.
You can spend all day just in Golden Gate Park.
In Chinatown, find Red's bar at happy hour and see if the old men will let you in their liar's dice game. It's a blast. Know the game going in and buy them a round. Ask where to get real Chinese food, not the stuff they sell us white people. We had a feast right there in the bar.
Go to North Beach early,(Sunrise), because the tourists are murder later in the day. Sunset on the Pacific side beach.
Tomasso's makes a damn good pizza. Go there hungry.
Lyft and uber are very reliable in town and you can get everywhere for very cheap.
If you pick a side of town to visit, have the uber drop you off on top the hill and walk back down the hill.
There are a bunch of museums.
SF is a place where you can do everything in a day and spend years there and not do it all.
Last advice, BREATHE. The air is amazing and smells of cedar and eucalyptus

They also do a Mission tour.
My wife and I did a food tour in the mission district. I wouldn't recommend the one we did, but I forgot what it was
We did stop are a cheese bar on the tour that was fantastic. We ended up going back after the tour was over.

North Star is the LSU bar for game watching, went there for the Bama game a couple years ago and had a great time. I am thinking of heading there for the game myself.
Head up to Muir Woods in Sausalito, pretty sure you need reservations now. Try an urban hike, San Francisco is a great place for them with many hidden staircases and amazing views. For an easier hike do the lands end trail starting at the cliff house and ending at the Golden Gate Bridge, views are incredible.

For our second trip to SF (overnight stay on the way to Sonoma) we wanted something different and stayed at The Inn at Presidio. We loved the area, and it was still a quick uber ride to dinner at Gary Danko’s (if you are into food, look it up, fabulous). We took a great walk the next morning to the Golden Gate Bridge.
We also went to the lunch at the Cliff House before heading to Sonoma. Wonderful views. They have a casual dining space, and more upscale part which takes reservations.

Alcatraz tour
Make sure you do the self guided audio tour. You will be missing out if you don't.

If you go to Muir Woods, go a little farther and drive up Hwy 1 some.
Coit Tower
Cable Cars - get a multi day bus pass, I think those work for buses & the cable cars. At least they did 20 years ago. You didn’t say if you will have a car.
Ghirardelli Square if you like their chocolate.

Great suggestion here.
Food recs:
Swan Oyster Depot for seafood
Tadich Grill is the oldest restaurant in town. I’m sure there are better but you get that old school seafood experience. Reminds me of New Orleans tbh
Get an authentic mission burrito in The Mission. El Faralito makes a good one
Chinese food in China town for sure. Salt and pepper crab.
Some drink recs:
Vesuvio is a dive bar where Jack Kerouac used to drink. Get some shitty well drink and enjoy. Can walk over to City Lights bookstore across the street - amazing place
The Tonga Room is one of the original tiki bars. It’s wonderfully kitschy. Frank sinatra and them used to hang there back in the day
***irish coffee at Buena Vista Cafe***. Believe it or not this is where the drink was invented and the exact recipe is still a secret. Best Irish coffee I’ve ever had. It’s also a cool old school joint
Also I don’t care what anyon says, watching the sea lions at Pier 41 is a blast

If you have a car head over to the east bay and go to Tilden Park great place. The views of the bay and the city from the Berkeley Hills are some of the best views in the world in not opinion.

Go Eat at liholiho. Best meal I had in SF last trip out.

Sonoma wine tours
There's literally endless things to do there.
