I've actually been to it IRL...it's fricking massive. Most people down there refer to it as his tomb....

Seriously. I mean most of them would be considered disgusting simply by virtue of them acting within the norms of society at that time.

Columbus wasn't Spanish. He was Genoese and was born in what is now Genoa, Italy but was then the Republic of Genoa. Columbus was an Eye-talian!

People like to think they have the moral high ground. They like to think that folks in the new world were always a force for good. There have been some shitty things happen on this continent and a ton of shitty things that Americans are responsible for. It's uncomfortable for folks to admit that. How many people know about the shite America did in the Phillipines?

I remember him being portrayed in a great light when I was in grade school.

I will never understand the incessant need for progressives to judge people who lived hundreds of years ago by the morals of today.

Why is his portrayed in grade school textbooks as some kind of hero?

Because he could fly and shot lasers from his eyes.

I really don’t know.. something triggers me about Columbus. The things I posted in the OP actually did happen, but I still look like a Melty McMelterson. A couple of my friends on here texted me and told me it’s a bad thread lol

I'd like some documentation on the "made 50k natives off themselves" tidbit.
