And i did't like it. My neighbor is away for 6 week for military training and i told him i would keep up his yard while he is gone. He has a brand new craftsman 4 stroke weedeater. Damn thing weighs a ton, is hard to start, and has a weird power band, you have to run it wide open. Last weekend I cut my grass right after and it made my sthil 2 stroke seemed like it was supercharged compared to the craftsman.

I had a 4-stroke for 5 years. I didn’t realize how terrible it was until I switched back to a 2-stroke

I'm no weedeater guru, but is it really fair to compare a craftsman to a Stihl?

Truth. I had an old 2 stroke die on me. Bought a husky 4 stroke and never looked back. I weed eat, edge, and cut down privet with it. Put a gator blade head on it and go to town.

4-strokes just don't wind up as fast as 2-strokes. Just look at dirt bikes

preach. And run trufuel through it.

My cheapo Ryobi finally died this weekend after 8 years of maintenance free usage. Im sure thats not the norm, but i ran out and bought me a brand new power head just exactly like it.

I have a high end Echo that has tons of power...

I've got a friend that runs a few Honda dealerships and he made me a deal on Honda's best 4 stroke for watching his boxer for a couple weeks...free!

That Honda powers through most anything my Echo does with out bogging down and you don't have to run it wide open, so it sips gas...

I don't believe I've picked up the Echo since.

My brother’s FS90 Stihl has been running for 14 years. Used to cut yards for cash back in high school heavily in the summer. I changed the carb for him last year just to tune it up and he’s changed the head on it numerous times since the old ones wore down. His backpack blower (also a Stihl) is the same way - 14 years and still chugging.

That was enough for me to get my own pair of Stihl machines this past week. Use pure gas from RaceTrac for the mix.

Oh and speedfeed heads are tGOAT. Didn’t know what I was missing until I used one last week.

I recently got a 4 stroke Craftsman with a speed-start button and I'm loving it. Had a 2 stroke Troy-Bilt that did well enough for about two years, but crapped out on me. Had zero issues with my Craftsman and it powers through pretty much everything.

4-stroke will never match the power-for-weight that the 2-strokes will but can have a bit more torque for heavy stuff. Pro-grade 2-stroke small engine equipment is a joy to use compared to consumer-grade Craftsman/Troy-bilt/Ryobi/Poulan/etc. Pick up a Stihl, Redmax, Maruyama, Shindaiwa, Tanaka/Hitachi, or Echo from a dedicated dealer and you can't go wrong. Much rather pay $300 - $500 for something I can count on for a decade or more of service.
