not really. Buy something basic., in the long run you'll get more satisfaction out of it.

Boats are money pits. Buy used to offset some of the depreciation and keep up with motor maintenance. I love having a boat and taking my family out is great. Louisiana is a great place to own a boat.

Getting some satisfaction out of it doesn't change the fact that it is a money pit.

People spend/lose money on tons of things that provide satisfaction. Buying/owning a boat is no different.

If this is how your boat will look, yes. Otherwise, no.

There are three things that you can't know that you don't want until you buy one:

1. Convertible
2. Pool
3. Boat

It's weird you think every boat is some money pit.

I've had the same ski boat for 15 years. I bought it used and it is now an antique. I still wakeskate behind it. I've spent a lot of money on maintenance but it still has been one of the greatest pleasure of my lifetime.

ETA: My rig looks almost exactly like this one:

A lot of people pay serious money for all kinds of experiences.

I love to experience things and my boat has brought me lots of great memories.

Same here. I get it winterized and ready for summer but I can't imagine not having one. Hell, the food it's provided make up much of the expense for me.

My dad has only put 1 or 2k into his and he's had it for almost ten years. It's not always that bad.

I don't put much into mine either. Just keep it maintained and stay away from the rocks

I'm on a boat nearly every weekend for about 8 months out of the year. If you know what your'e doing and take care of your shite (preventative maintenance) it's not the money pit half of these guys think it is. For those of you who don't own boats, what's your hobby? I can almost guarantee you that it is more expensive than boating when you really add it all up.
