I don't see the money pit thing. It's not bad if you buy a quality brand, keep it covered while not in use, and know how to service the engine.

Change the oil, check the lube levels for the lower foot, always drain the water from the engine before winter storage. If you have basic mechanic skills it's easy. Mine has a 400 hp inboard/outboard that's easy to maintain. Oil filter on top of engine, plug on the side. To winterize it you unscrew 2 plugs and put an air hose on a valve stem to force the water out of the engine

It just depends. I grew up on the water and i cant be without one. Yes they are expensive and a colossal pain in the arse, so youve got to really love them to justify it. Monetarily they are a horrible decision.

Boat.

A hole in the water, surrounded by wood, into which one pours money.

Some of the best times in my life have been on my boat with my kids tubing, boarding and fishing. The memories and quality time spent are worth it many times over. Remember It’s only money and the kids are only young once.

I always wanted to take my boat down there and check that place out. Looks like the type of place to get hammered, catch the clap, and probably get some good knuckle checking in

indeed it is. It's delightfully trashy. I spent many a summer day at the PS in my late teens and early 20s.

Yep, know exactly who you are.

Gonna have to ride in the Amite soon. The water is getting warmer.

They only way 2 is true for me if it mean 1 again. I'd seriously be sad if I didn't have a boat anymore.

Not a money pit if you buy right and have a means to store it.

Get something simple and it's not that bad. I bought an older all welded aluminum center console hull for cheap, sold the old motor, strapped on a new Yamaha F115, spent about $300 in the trailer, and it's really pretty painless. A fishing trip costs $20-$25 in gas, and I spend about $100 on maintenance every year. Fuel treatment is a must, I get the Yamalube one at Academy. Do that, and keep up your trailer bearings and you're good to go.

Guys go overboard and get obsessed and dump way more money than they need to, then get tired of it/frustrated. I like having it, but I wouldn't go into debt for one.

For me, absolutely. I try to get on the water at least once a week.

For most people, absolutely not.

I have 2 boats. Both pleasure boats with inboard outboards that require lots of maintenance and repairs. Luckily now days with the internet you can find a how to video or read an article on how to fix most problems. If I wouldn’t have been able to do the work myself I would be out thousands by now.
With that being said, there is no other place I would rather be than out on one of my boats.

buy you one of those new retro bass trackers. $9995 with everything you need. keep it for a couple years and if you take care of it you can sell it you probably be only out a few thousand
