Can we just create a Beatles Hate Board for the inevitable "Beatles Suck" Thread every couple of weeks?

I think the opposite is true. Their 1967-1970 stuff gets worshiped so much (and a lot of that is deserved) that people forget the first half of their careers they were the 1960s version of the Backstreet Boys.

I never said they suck. I recognize their talent, I just can't get into their music.

While I agree they are overrated and terrible in general, this thread is very germans.

ETA: frick Paul McCartney
Why?

frick the one guy that was enough of an adult to hold the group together, on a personal and financial level? That dealt with childish prima donnas with messiah complexes and weird Japanese girlfriends? That by almost every conceivable standard was the most friendly, professional, and talented member of the greatest band of all time? Who basically revolutionized how bass guitar was played in pop music?

Yeah frick that guy, not the spoiled brat with mommy issues that ruined everything.

1996 Backstreet Boys Live

1964 Beatles Live

Other than the screaming girls, these are not the same. The early Beatles energy was special. They sound good even playing through primitive equipment and not being able to hear themselves. In 1964, this was a totally new sound.

I'm with you man. I just don't get it. Maybe it's because I wasn't alive at the time.

Well first of all he didn't revolutionize shite. Let alone bass. What did he do that was so special with his bass?

And he also didn't hold the band together. The Beatles were only a band for about 10 years. Yes he wrote a lot of the music but so did John Lennon and George Harrison.

You can't compare just the music or style of music. You have to compare first, the music that came before each band and then to that of their peers. The Beatles were at the right place and time to help change popular music. The Backstreet Boys were copying from acts three decades old.

The Beatles may not have been best musicians, but they were great song writers and as mentioned in a post from a week or to ago, they were lucky to be found by George Martin. Together they moved popular music forward.

No, they don't. Are you talking about Romanian goat farmers that only have a transistor radio? Not hearing a lot of other songs is pretty hard to believe.

What? Now that's just the silliest assumption ever about that band.

Not everyone does. That's the greatest thing about music, you are free to like what you like. I can list lots of bands that I don't like and other people do:

Bruce Springsteen
U2
INXS
Duran Duran
Tim McGraw

and on and on.
