Rip it out the ceiling, wire together and tie with a wire nut

Just get rid of it you don't need it. You can smell fire from a mile away

I thought they were only designed to start beeping at 3 am?

If you Google the make/model of the detector, there's probably an online manual somewhere that will tell you the different trouble codes.
i.e. 2 beeps and a flashing red light means X but 3 long beeps with a solid red means Y etc.
You might be able diagnose it that way and sometimes it just needs to be cleaned off or something similarly simple. But usually if new batteries + reset doesn't fix the problem it isn't worth bothering with. The detector is broken and should just be replaced.

the builder of my home installed some piece of shite smoke detectors that all started to fail in succession right around the 4 year mark. I ended up having to replace all of them eventually for false indication and intermittent beeping.
It could be yours just ran itself out of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. google the namebrand/model and see if yours is also a piece of shite variety.

I moved to this version. Those glitches can be annoying.

Mine did this and my wife couldn’t get it to stop, so she freaked out and beat it with a broom handle. Now I have no smoke detector in my house.

Change the battery
Most smoke detectors have a backup battery in a panel under the main battery so remove the main battery and then the panel and replace the backup battery
