Selection committees need to be given rules which make sense. Conference Champions being left out because someone's opinion is given more weight than actual results on the damn field is ridiculous.

To give a team a freebie for NOT winning their division nor playing in thier Conference Championship game while teams who accomplished more play for Conference Titles is wrong.

If a team loses their conference division and only has one loss then it should not be ellevated for NOT playing.

In Bama's case, they lost their biggest game of the year and dodged UGA as a result and are rewarded for it. It is just too stupid to take seriously. Rules need to be changed to stop this type of thing.

If LSU had one loss and was left out for a two loss Big 10 team that got blown out by Iowa this board would rightfully melt down.

frick Ohio State.

frick Alabama too but I’m not shedding a tear that Meyer got beat by the SEC even after running away from it

Your argument mooted your own point. The results on the field were the reasons for the choices that were made. OSU got beat 2 times and blown out in one of those games by a mediocre Iowa team. The committee nailed it. Great teams can slip once. They don't get beat twice and blown out in the process.

Once again, this is about ratings on TV and little else. The gumps bring ratings more so than does OSU. Simple as that. The committee is a way to ensure that things can be maximally manipulated. Why are the conference championships played? For more money.

We live on the ill-founded structure of a false society that worships mammon.

Like it or not, they got it right, dude.

USC, Wisky or OSU aren't better than Bama.

No actually the committee got it right and youre an idiot if you think otherwise. OSU lost twice with a combined lossed total of 46 frickin pts. But yea, they won the Big 10 so lets put them in over a one loss Bama team because the SEC west is so competitive and its almost impossible to run the table ever season. You want to make the playoffs? Dont lost twice and dont get blown out by 31 by a frickin 7-5 Iowa team. Colorado St was a 7-5 team that Bama crushed. Could you imagine if they would have lost to CO state by 31 along with the Auburn loss but somehow would have played in the SEC Championship game and won it. A 2 loss Bama SEC champ had no business being in the playoffs even though they would havw hypothetically "won their conference bruh, herp derp derp...".

Every team does play every other team in most conferences. that alone gives them some leeway.

Alabama only lost 1 game on the road. The game was close.

Ohio State lost two games: one by 31 points. and quite honestly should have lost to Penn State at home.

Alabama is better for ratings against Clemson than Ohio state.

Alabama is playoff experienced.
No one wants to see Clemson blow out ohio state.

Alabama would be favored over Ohio state on a neutral site.

Alabama was ranked fifth last week. Ohio state was eighth.

Copied my friends break down for you.
-Word of the day is DESERVE.
-I'm not bitter(like I said yesterday that some didn't read well) or salty or butt hurt.
-My two cents that I'm entitled to. I DESERVE it.
-Auburn got whipped yesterday plain and simple. No excuses. UGA DESERVED to win that game because they played better and wanted it more and their coaching staff was better prepared.
-Auburn DESERVED to beat two #1 teams in three weeks because they played out of their minds and hit a hot streak that unfortunately ended yesterday.
-If a tournament is to be held to determine an overall national champion shouldn't it's participants be some form of sub champion?
-Here is a list of the teams that DESERVE to be the top 4
1)Clemson
2)UGA
3)Oklahoma
4)Ohio State
-Here is a list of teams that DESERVE to be in the top 4 consideration also because why? They are said sub champions
1)USC
2)UCF(undefeated btw)
3)Boise State
-Here is a list of one loss teams that DESERVE to be considered for the top 4 because at least they played for their said sub championship
1)Wisconsin
-Where is BAMA? Oh yeah? They don't DESERVE to be in the top 4! They lost to the best team they played all year. They didn't even play in the SEC title game. HELL!! They aren't even champions of their own state for the next year.
-Is BAMA good enough for top 4 consideration? Absolutely. Do they DESERVE it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
-But good ole deep throater of the media Dick Satan sure did change his tune about a non conference champion DESERVING a playoff spot from a year ago.
-Does the football playoff look like the BCS disguised just with more teams and controversy or is it me?
-I've said from day one and until I am blue in the face that it would take BAMA 2 loses to never get in the playoffs. Every year it will always be BAMA and the "other 3".
-6 team playoff. Plain and simple. Champion of the 5 Power Conferences(regardless of record) and a wild card with two first round byes.
-I can't wait to see who gets screwed. My money is on OSU even though they DESERVE to be in it and BAMA doesn't.
-Good enough vs. DESERVE.

It’s who you beat AND who you lose to. It was that way in 2011 and is that way this year.

The ESPN guys had no problem with OSU being knocked out of the title hame in 2011 cause they had a bad loss, but it’s a different story with them when Ohio St gets knocked out cause of a bad loss.

Go figure

?? your melt is showing. Perhaps the flaw is with the SEC set-up, and not the committee.

Maybe the East-West set up should be for regular season scheduling only and the SECCG be for the teams with the best records in the conference. Ideally, it would be an East-West matchup.

Not a BAMA fan, but let’s not pretend that they are not worthy of a top 4 spot. I don’t think a 2 loss TOS that beat an undefeated—yet really untested—Wisconsin team deserves to be there before a 1-loss BAMA team that lost to a highly ranked AU.

I don't see it that way at all. This is a playoff where the 4 best teams, according to the committee, are chosen. There's no rule that you have to win the conference to be selected and OSU proved that last year. Its all based on somewhat educated opinions. The committee had their opinion and we have ours.
IMO Bama was more deserving thb OSU. Bama lost to a top 5 school, OSU to a top 5 school and Iowa. One thing sticks out, Iowa. Also in what world of standings does a 2 loss team beat a 1 loss team when conference doesn't matter and the overall resumes are basically a wash? Both sides can be argued but I think they got it right

Bama getting yet another mulligan pisses me off. But OSU got their's last year. They went in front of their own conference champion. Then they got blown out in the semi's. Based on that there is no way OSU with two blowout losses deserved to be in.

Honestly, if the conference championships are meaningless, then stop playing them and replace those games with a defacto playoff of the power five leaders and three at large teams to determine the final four. No additional games will need to be played, and every eligible team will have to earn their way in instead of sitting on a sofa hoping someone loses their way out.

So who goes in when Wis. loses one game to OSU by six points but OSU got blown out by one team and beat bad by another team? Saying OSU, I can accept that.

If OSU would have a third loss which was ooc but yet OSU wins the conference then what do you do? Saying OSU because they are conference champs, I won't accept that.

Just saying that conference champs shouldn't get special consideration in all cases.

I dont like alabama like most LSU fans but they deserved to get in ahead of Ohio st. I mean who would win if those teams played 10 times. id say alabama would take 9 out of 10. Ohio st got blown out by Iowa that was their undoing and thats what cost them.

All conferences should have a championship game or playing in the game shouldn't count in the final polls.

Bama got in this year the same way they did in 2011 and it sucks.

What action should be taken if a team is the winner of an overall weak conference. The goal should be to get the 4 (hopefully "an elite 8" sometime in the near future) best teams in the country, even if all 4 come from the same conference.
