was paying $79 and now will be $29. The $79 was discounted by $41 already and now an additional $50 off for a year. So $29 for a supposed $120 package.

Good God. What programming do you get for $29. I may call again.

Just called and got the $50 discount. Apparently word is out because the rep told me that not everybody will qualify for the discount, but they are getting tons of calls. Mine is now $32 per month plus tax after the discount. The rep said since I have cellphone service through AT&T, I could call them and bundle my bill and save an extra $10-$15. I may give that a whirl later this afternoon.

How much are you frickers paying for TV where you're getting $50 off per month?

I was paying right at $135 which was for the DirecTV Extra package with an HD DVR receiver and 3 wireless minis. I don't remember if I have a sports package or not. So now it is $85 a month.

The gentleman did say that each account is treated separately, so some people will be offered more/less. Before offering me the $50 off, he asked if going to a different package would help with lowering my bill. I told him the channels I have are what my wife wants, and I really don't want to sleep on the couch. He laughed and then gave me the $50 off.

Asked about how it affected me not being under contract and it would have extended me 24 months.

I specifically asked about if I had to extend the contract and was told no. The discount does not require that. It's a discount, not a negotiated contract price.

Just called 1-800-288-2020 and got a really nice guy named Eric. I told him I wanted to cancel HBO and he gave me great discounts. I got $55 off my bill for 12 mos., upgraded my receivers, life time of free HBO and Showtime. They must be really hurting right now.

This thread alone is responsible for around $40,000 in discounts and counting.

Damn. I guess it's all in how you have the discussion. Perhaps, I should call and straight up ask for the discount. I kept waiting for them to throw it out, but after a 15 minute conversation, things stalled and she never mentioned it.

I don't even know tbh... I have no movie channels but pretty much all sports channels and packages. Others said they got HBO for free as well but I didn't ask for that and they didn't offer me.

Did you call direct to the customer loyalty #? If so, try again and tell them you're weighing options to possibly switch to different provider and you heard about loyalty discount.

I called the direct line and immediately talked to a very nice guy. I specifically asked for the customer loyalty discount. He said he didn't know about it but checked.

After he came back he noted that I was already getting a $45/month discount to make my bill $88 a month. And I have been a customer since 2014.

I could not get anything else.

I have XTRA with a DVR and two other receivers.
I don't have any premium channels.

So I struck out, but I may call again later.

I would call again. My agent said that i was still getting the $55 off introductory offer but that they would still give me the $50 additional. I have had a couple friends do it just now and $20 off has been the lowest offer.

I just did it. I'm a new customer only had it a few months so am still in the 2 year discount they were doing a while back. Only paid 60 for tv and 40 for 50mbps internet before the call. Didn't get full 50 off but did get 20 off and free HBO so I am down to 80$ total for choices package direct tv, unlimited 50mbps internet, and hbo. Told buddy and dad to call. They both have been customers for years and both got the 50$ off with no issue just asked and got it immediately plus the free hbo

Just got the discount for my mom, and found out they had been charging her for two extra receivers since April of '16. So they gave her a $195 credit and the $50 credit for a year. Thanks OP!

Related subject... has anyone upgraded to the 4K receivers? I have to 4k tv's on the way, but I was wondering how much they typically charge to upgrade the equipment.

Called around 5:00 today. Tasha was super nice. Added bonus was she sounded hot. After a little small talk about the weather and how each of our days went, she went over all options on the table for bundling, etc. She then offered me the $50 per month discount for 12 months. This is on top of a $20 a month discount I've been getting for 18 months and will continue to get for 6 more months.

Total bill before tax will now be 39.98!!!!

I used the number in the OP.

I dont think it matters whether you are in a contract or not.. It was pretty much no questions asked when i did it.

Can you kind of summarize what I'm supposed to say? I've called before and had $5-$10 taken off before but not $50.

What's the direct line to the customer loyalty department? Do I threaten to cancel?

Thanks
