You can call DirecTV right now and get a monthly discount on your bill for 12 months. I got $50/month off, and it took five minutes. 800-directv is the number. Ask for customer loyalty discount. I saw it on Facebook and thought it was a hoax. It's not.

ETA: Apparently 18007783397 is a direct line that allows you to accomplish your discount more quickly.

Its going to get cheaper and cheaper as millions more cut the cord. No one wants DirecTV.

I have to believe that in order to prove your loyalty, you renew/extend your contract for this discount....right?

If you are out of contract, it’s just as easy to call and threaten to cancel

So basically they are overcharging people, so you need to tell them you are aware of this and they'll adjust your rates

We pay for my in-laws' DirecTV account, and we recently got the discount. The bill for their cable/internet is now considerably lower than what I pay for internet and DirecTV Now (~$68 vs. $85).

I do have faster internet though.

ETA- I just looked, and it's actually $71 vs. $91 with taxes/fees.

I called a couple weeks ago and asked them to cancel my service (I was just hoping they would lower my bill) and they sent me to the retention department and they lowered my bill by about 60 bucks a month and gave me cinemax and the red zone channel for free but it renewed my conctract for a year which is how long this discount lasts. I currently wasn't under a contract at the time tho.

I had Sling for a couple of years until I found Vue. Vue > Sling.

I'm not arguing best service. This is just a PSA for people who have directv so that they can get a discount.

Just did this myself and it worked...usually think these things are a sham. Glad it’s not. Bill is now about $85. Great stuff.

Are you discussing with loyalty dept? The original customer service lady was hesitant to transfer me. Make sure you’re talking to the right group.

They wouldn't give it to my wife. I called an hour later and had no problem. I've seen some people who have had to call five times.
