Why are most razor blades so damn expensive?

I went to buy refill blades last weekend. They wanted $40 for 8 Gillette refill blades. That’s insane.

I ended up buying a Harry’s razor handle and 8 refill blades for $25. The blades were only $15. They work perfectly fine and aren’t a ripoff.

I did the dollar shave club but had to cancel after 3 months, the blades were horrible.

I bought the Harrys at Target one time. I wasn't a fan.

I can use the Gillette Mach 5's for 1 month per blade. Harrys only lasted a couple weeks.

Switch to safety razors. $10ish for a pack of 100 blades which will last you for years

I've been using the Philips OneBlade for a couple of months now. I'm a big fan. Any one else use this?

such an original topic I think this subject comes up and discussed 2-3 times a week here.

In all seriousness, how much of your budget is consumed by razors? I understand that one wants to save money where they can, but razors? Talk about minutiae.

Not to sound like a baller but I don't look at prices. I buy what works best. Gillette Mach 3 turbo.

I use one disposable razor a month. Blades don't go bad, even the toughest facial hair can't dull a steel blade. Blades go bad because they rust. I just simple wipe the blade with a towel when I am done or give it a quick shot from a can of compressed air.

I shave every night after showering and use the merkur handle and astra blades from Amazon. I bought a shave cup and brush from there also. $45 for everything including 100 blades 1.5 years ago. I'll use a safety razor as long as I have to shave.

I shave my face and head daily. A razor lasts me two shaves no matter how expensive or cheap they were to buy.

I use a safety razor, which I started using based on suggestions from the board. For 100 razors it cost $18.00 which is probably the best deal I have found when it comes to the amount spending on razors.

The key is drying off the blades after use. They last much longer
