You should have seen that map. It was like the perfect storm through the Caribbean, splitting the gap between the Yucatan and Cuba, then heading straight for the south central coast of LA. I was like a young Shepard Smith telling 5 and 6 year olds they're going to die if they don't leave. It was brutal.

Pretty sure the storm went fishing east of the Leeward Islands.
PJ would be proud knowing he was an influence on you at such an early age

U.S. National Hurricane Centre says Hurricane Jose which is following in the path of Irma has been upgraded to a category 4 hurricane

Jesus. That's insane considering Jose is feeding off the waters Irma just went over

Yeah, that far out several weeks hard to believe honestly. That's a loooooooong time especially with seasonal changes for that thing to make it into GOM. Obviously a possibility but I'm not even going to watch it anytime soon.

If I remember right, Katrina overrode it's steering currents.

Whatever happened with the storm? What was its name?

Think it might have been Isidore? This would have been in like 1996, so I'm just going off of storms that year. It was only a few years after Andrew, which made it especially bad.

Irma's like warm milk. Jose's like cooler water.

Hope it didn't sound like I was calling you out. I'll see someone post that you can tell has been accepted as the resident expert and I always miss when that was established. Considering how uber skeptical this board can be, I'm always fascinated

No, not at all, and I'm no expert. I just have a decent amount of free time, an interest in weather, and an internet connection.

Still a ton of people in the St. Pete area. I think most are riding out the storm. Stores still have plenty of food, water, etc

Irma looking kinda ratty on most recent loops

Haven't had much chance to watch Irma this morning but that has surprised me after seeing indications the outer eyewall was winning the replacement cycle late last night. Guessing the inner eyewall wasnt ready to quit fighting yet.

Doesn't look like the inner wall is driving much convection at this point. If the replacement cycle is really over, a huge eye should open up this afternoon/evening.
