I read that Disney can reschedule your vaca if you booked through them directly if the area would be affected by a hurricane.

I'm not trying to help my friend's coworker out. I want this guy to hit the road. I already asked for regular updates on this "vacation" if this coworker actually departs.

ETA: Corworker is a she, will correct that in future posts for accuracy.

At what point will you be concerned about the lack of north movement? It looks like tomorrow afternoon/evening it should begin a more northerly movement?

If it leaves the NHC cone.

Bayshore will flood regardless, surprisingly Zone A doesn't cover much of South Tampa - which doesnt seem right.

My house off Habana almost got water in Aug 2015.

Over the next 9 hours they expect it to move .4N and 1.8W, which is very close to the movement over the last 3 hours.

Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and Sea World said Thursday morning they are monitoring the movement of Irma, but at this point have made no plans to shut down their parks or alter the normal hours of operations. The storm is projected to reach the southern part of the state Saturday and some tracking models have the Category 5 Hurricane reaching central Florida on Monday.
How much political pressure do you think there is not to call a Hurricane warning north of what they've called already? Notice that the official track stops the hurricane warning area south of Orlando.

Left this morning. Magic Kingdom wasn't crowded at all yesterday. Space mountain had 15 min wait. People were waiting to catch buses this morning.

I think it would be harder to reschedule disney with flights as opposed to driving but I hope their expensive vacation doesn't blow balls and they stay safe.

My buddy in MS just texted me that a coworker of his has a Disney vacation this week and is leaving tomorrow.

As in, they are heading TOWARDS the Cat 4/5 storm for...Disney

They are "not sure" if contraflow will be a problem.

Disney will most likely be closed Sat-Mon except for the hotels.

Navy track shows up making landfall just north of Ft Meyers. Is there any foreseeable way this thing turns sooner than expected?

Our local weather guy

quote:

Irma update shows no big changes in the path. Expect a breezy north and northeast wind Sunday and Monday with possibly a few showers Monday.

I'm in Okaloosa county, approx. 40 minutes east of Pensacola.

I'm laughing mainly because all I hear is panicked "IT'S SHIFTING WEST" and this guy is like "nah, shite's good".

Here's the GFS run gif. It moved west. Will be real interesting to see if the Euro moves west again and puts the storm coming in around or above Naples.

Disney is the company that refuses to let people be pronounced dead on their grounds, they aren't going to risk people getting hurt on property. Bad for PR and future business.

I think Euro will be more telling on how far west or possibly east it takes it. Euro picked up on it first so I'm wondering how much it will agree with GFS. If both agree and they don't change much next 24 hours people really need to go if they haven't yet...they should be leaving now. Not a lot of error in there they've been very consistent with it hitting anywhere east-west-central Florida for a week now with the small exception some had it skirting east coast of Florida going up near Georgia/SC.
