Ok baws looking for route update..still on US 41 north bound. Traffic backed up in Dunnellon due to right lane blocked for gas station. About 30 minute delay. Doing 50 mph after clearing city limits

How are the people with no power or communication ability in the Bahamas / Antilles going to even know they need to get ready for another round. Praying Jose heads north and out to sea.

she's becoming quite the embarrassment of a storm.

Is meteorology a fascination with you or do you actually work in this area?
Just something I've always enjoyed since I was a kid. I shared this story last night:
quote:
We used to put on a weekly TV show for the rest of our elementary school when I was in 4th grade. I volunteered to do the weather segment during hurricane season. We had a wall-sized chart of the north Atlantic, and I'd draw any current storms and plot them with updated coordinates. After a few weeks, I decided to start doing my own storm forecast, and that's when shite hit the fan. I wish-casted a storm right through our hometown while it was still like 10 days out and not even in the GOM. Kids went home panicked and shite and they cut my segment for the rest of the year.
When I'm not posting in severe weather threads I moonlight as a financial advisor.

Whatever happened with the storm? What was its name?

At some point this afternoon, Rick Scott will be issuing a statement advising people hunker down instead of trying to evacuate.
Maybe he should have opened up contra flow or at least one lane of it before doing this.

That story is hilarious
You should have seen that map. It was like the perfect storm through the Caribbean, splitting the gap between the Yucatan and Cuba, then heading straight for the south central coast of LA. I was like a young Shepard Smith telling 5 and 6 year olds they're going to die if they don't leave. It was brutal.
Pretty sure the storm went fishing east of the Leeward Islands.

Hope it didn't sound like I was calling you out. I'll see someone post that you can tell has been accepted as the resident expert and I always miss when that was established. Considering how uber skeptical this board can be, I'm always fascinated
