Things That Were Not A Big Deal When You Were Younger That Would Be A Big Issue Today

When I was in elementary school, we had a vice principal named Mr. Jack. He was this old black man who always carried a paddle he called "purple rain". It was one he made. It was purple and he had something around the handle that gave him a better grip.
At recess he would walk around and every once in awhile you would see him grab a kid, who he caught doing something, and he would give them a few licks. One year my class was near the office and we could hear when he would paddle a kid in his office.
In high school.. One of my English teachers told a dude in class "you are a waste of space, your daddy should have shot his load on the wall". I am sure if someone heard about that today they would have a problem with it.
Another teacher I had.. She was a science teacher and the classroom on the other side of her's was a male teacher, their classroom use to be connected by a lab and you could be in one's class and get to the other one's through the lab. The male teacher was older and didn't care what he said. In the middle of class he would come into our class through the lab and he would just say "class.. you should have seen what I did Ms. ___________ on her break" He would do something like put pressure on stacks of paper and say "boy she bent over against this and I showed her who the boss was".
Had that same guy for a different science class and if you brought him something he would pass you. The boys who lived "down the bayou" would bring him a few sacks of crawfish. If someone was doing bad in his class, they would go see him and ask "what you need?". He owned a funeral home and something else, but he was pretty much teaching for the insurance and at the point when I was in school, he was close to retiring anyway so he didn't give a single frick.
But it seems like all that stuff would be a big deal if parents today found out something like that was going on.

I don't believe either of there for one second. Saying those things would never be ok, especially in front of children.

I made a large cypress stick for one of the coaches to smack players with after he broke about 30 yard sticks.
And I pretty much just gave away who I was.

Does Dixie youth baseball still have a confederate flag in its logo? It did when I was a kid.
