Local news headline here:
"Glen Campbell dead at 81...best known for 'Rhinestone Cowgirl' song."
Wtf?

Really bro ? One of the most respected players, session men and songwriters of his era, deserves a far more respectful send off than that douchnozzle thread title.

That is the first song I remember ever knowing in my life. Man I'm old

IIRC, hasn't he been pretty sick for awhile?
Posted on 8/8/17 at 3:52 pm to CAD703X
He was my favorite Beach Boy.

Dang.
Yeah he had Alzheimer's I think and really wasn't heard from lately. Now dead. So it must have progressed quickly.
Rhinestone Cowboy was huge but to my young ear it was all I ever knew him for. Great song in its own right but became cliche and dated. Much of his other stuff was better. Find yourself hearing it and think "damn, that's Glenn Campbell?"

CNN or someone did a lengthy story on Glenn last year about dealing with Alzheimer's and his attitude toward it and life, etc.
Rhinestone Cowboy was the first song I remember saying was "my favorite." Discovered his other stuff years later. Another country legend gone.

I saw him in Branson as a teenager back in 94. It was a helluva show.
