Sorry to hear this. I can't imagine getting that kind of news. Mind if I ask how old you are? Prayers sent.

I know this must be a tremendous shock. My daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 3 months and was so sick they gave her a decent chance of living past 10. The life expectancy was 35 but they said she was so sick and the disease hit her harder and faster then anyone they heard before.

My daughter is 16. Has not been hospitalized since and has a lung function of 100% with no symptoms. She takes a lot of drugs, a lot of treatment and has a few sinus clean out surgeries.

No one knows what your future holds. Fight and leave this planet with no regrets. it may be 1 year or 50 years from now.

University of Oklahoma has developed a new method for introducing cancer treatment into the identified area. Do not know if it holds any promise but saw the report and thought of you

My first piece of advice is to step away from the computer. You can google about it and read about it, which will solve nothing, or you can step away and live your life with everything you have. I won't BS you and tell you everything is going to be okay because it's definitely a tough cancer to have, but I will tell you that a cousin of mine outlived his expectancy with some clinical trials and good doctors. Make your moments count, love the life you have and the people in it, and fight like hell.

This week I was diagnosed with Stage 3B pancreatic cancer. Per the doctor with no treatment life expectancy is 6 months, with chemo treatment 2 years. Everything I have read online is depressing - they don't even go past a 5 year life expectancy.
Does anyone know of any good outcomes of pancreatic cancer?

I am so sorry to hear of your condition. My mother passed in Jan 2012 of this exact same thing. My honest advice to you is get your affairs in order. once in order, do everything you can to enjoy everyday. If you have kids give them the best of the time you have left, hug them love them even more. If you are married let them know how you fell about them every chance you get.

I have not heard many good outcomes from this late of a stage of Pancreatic Cancer. It does not mean that you will will be in that group of stats. If you are a fighter, fight like hell, if you are not a fighter, fight like hell. My heart goes out to you and yours.

Fight like Hell and be the "good outcome" so those that join your battle will know it can indeed have a positive outcome!

I don't know if I can contribute much that hasn't already been said, but...

While not an oncologist, as a doctor I can assure you not all physicians are created equally. Just like some orthos specialize in knees and some in shoulders, you need to give yourself the best chance by seeking out oncologists who have the most expertise for your particular condition.

There are great oncologists and cancer treatment centers around the country, however none of them compare to MDA when it comes to treating serious and complex cancers. At the very least you owe it to yourself to just hear what they have to say.

quote:

One night I had a dream.

I dreamed I was walking along the beach
with the Lord..

Across the sky flashed scenes from my life..
For each scene, I noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand,
one belonging to me, and the other to the Lord..

When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.

This really bothered me
and I questioned the Lord about it:
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why
when I need you most you would leave me."

The Lord replied:
"My precious child, I love you and would
never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then
that I carried you."

Every day that you are able to wake and smile, thank the Lord. Also, maybe this would be some motivation to kick cancers arse. Stay strong and never ever lose your faith.

Any good outcomes?

I know a guy who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in his early 30s who beat it. He had surgery and treatment in Phoenix. This was 10+ years ago.

I also know a woman in her 60s who battled pancreatic cancer in summer/fall of 2015. She was treated in Dallas. As of a few months ago she was in remission.

Sorry I don't have the specifics on what type and stage their cancer was at or which doctors or treatments worked for them.

Just wanted to let you know that there are people who beat it.

frick cancer.

Very best of luck to you with this cancer. I lost my father to this horrible cancer last year and my aunt, his sister, to the same cancer. It took my aunt in 3 months and my dad in 10 months. Neither one had a chance and the chemo they received absolutely destroyed their bodies.

On a different note my sister-n-laws father had this cancer as well but was able to have the Whipple surgery. He is still alive today 17 years later. I hope this is the outcome for you.
