From what I was told at lunch today...

If coach O was retained, Aranda would keep Associate Head Coach title and receive a pay increase and contract extension. O would then make a move to get Kiffin at LSU. They are super tight, way tighter than I thought. If he couldn't get Kiffin, this is what I was told today "there's a big name offensive mind that he would go after. Let me confirm it before I let it leak out." Coach O is fine with making significantly less than Les made and allocating more money to the coordinators. I heard he's selling hard to name him ASAP so he can lock in some great recuits to finish the class with a bang.

Mother of god. If Alleva comes out Monday after a hypothetical LSU win over Alabama, it's yet another decision based on emotion. Wait to assess the situation AFTER the season. If he loses 2/3 afterward it's a huge issue.

I just cannot fathom how this happens.

You have to think that Kiffin is vying for a head coach position somewhere.

If he can seriously bring in Lane Kiffin, beat Bama and retain Aranda, I'm all aboard for him. WTF else do you want the man to do???

I'm still wanting Jimbo Fisher, but if O can do all that, he's quickly closing ground.

It's been the worst kept secret in the world that he would try to get Kiffin.

The issue is that Kiffin will probably have HC offers after this season, and won't take the lateral move.

That's why Saban brought in Sark, he's the Bama OC in waiting. I hope Orgeron can get the inside track on him from their time at USC.

I think O just wants the best Offensive and Defensive minds to be his coordinators. And in his mind that's Kiffin and Aranda

He still would be. He'd be lining himself up for the LSU job when O goes on to two straight 4 lose seasons.

Is there a back up plan if O loses 2 games? Or are we just all in at this point?

This is LSU admin we're talking about. They don't have back up plans.

I like his mind. It simply sounds like he has common sense.

I've been prepping myself for O to be named permanent head coach. At this point the only way I don't see coach O getting the gig is if he loses out.

If there is, random isn't talking lol. He hasn't answered any questions about Fisher or Herman in quite a while. Make of that what you will

Has Lane Kiffin ever explicitly come out and stated he wants to be a head coach again? His dad was perfectly happy being a career coordinator. Maybe he learned he's best suited for being an OC.
