Has your interest in the NFL diminished?

Sorry if there is already a thread on this

Mark Cuban made comment on the oversaturation/overexposure of the NFL a couple years ago:

“Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I’m just telling you, when you’ve got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you."

I can't imagine watching 2-3 hours of pregame footage. I'll watch the early games then the afternoon games (unless I have something else to do). By the time the evening game is aired, I'm pretty much done, unless it's a really competitive game on paper. MNF? Fuhgetaboutit

I no longer have this attitude of "It's Sunday and I'm watching football. I don't want to be bothered." either. I'll watch the games, but if something comes up, such as an invite somewhere, I'm out the door

I watch only the primary team I'm a fan of. Even then if I have something important or family related going on I'll skip it. I haven't watched a single minute of pregame in 10 years.

It depends on the quality of games on. Lately it seems like the Sunday late afternoon/Sunday night games have been better matchups than the MNF games. And the Thursday night matchups always seem to be garbage. I've probably watched 3 quarters of MNF this season. They really need to figure out some dynamic scheduling similar to college football for the Primetime games (outside Thursday of course).

And the NFL pre game shows are all garbage. So is NBCs highlight show/pre game show for Sunday night football. Sunday Primetime with Boom and TJ was GOAT

I pretty much only watch the Redskins game every week, most of the playoffs, and the Super Bowl.

I'll watch parts of other games in passing, but I'm not sitting down on Sunday to watch every NFL game.

Yes, but I attribute it to a couple of things 1) getting older and having a few other priorities in life and 2) the continued wussification of the sport.

You can't touch a QB without a flag being thrown. Make the game unwatchable when you have seen football from the 60's and 70's.

Yes, about 6-7 yrs ago. Only watched when weather sucked and nothing else to do. Usually only watched late afternoon and night games.

Now, will never watch as long as these idiots keep protesting on the side of criminals.

Yes, but it has nothing to do with too much coverage. All Goodell

I don't think it's oversaturation, I think it's the rules changes and the penalties. Every exciting or pivotal play is then influenced by some bullshite penalty. And that is something that ruins the experience.

And the commercials.

I know there is a large collection of people who think "fantasy football is killing the NFL," but since I started playing I've increased my NFL viewing tremendously. Getting Red Zone this year has made me watch even more. So I would say my interest has increased with the overexposure of the NFL.

Not at all. There is a lot of new blood coming in to the league. Just think about it. Soon, Rivers, Brees, Brady will be gone. Peyton is already gone. shite, Big Ben is almost on the wrong side of 30. It's exciting seeing what the new crop of players will bring to the table.

I watch the Saints and usually the Sunday night game. For fantasy purposes I will watch redzone sometimes and occasionally the Monday Night game, but the match ups are usually awful.

It is rather difficult for me to watch an NFL game with all the commercials they have.
I forget if it was the Sunday or Monday night game from a week or so ago. Team scores so i get up before the extra point to go put my kids to bed. We read two books, talk a little, blah blah blah, and then i go take a quick shower. Come back and sit down to watch the game, and notice that 13 seconds have been played since i first got up about 10-15 minutes ago.

There is nothing more irritating than watching a 3 and out, punt, commercial, 3 and out, punt, commercial, etc.
I usually just find somethign else to watch on tv.
This past monday i watched the debate instead. Switched over at least 10 times to check the score and got a commercial everytime but once.

If it weren't for fantasy football, i'd likely only really watch the playoffs.

Yes. I haven't watched much the last couple of years, and haven't watched one snap this year. Reason:

1. Rule changes in the name of player safety. You can't hit the QB or WR over the middle.

2. Rule changes to promote more offense. There are momentum/game changing flags thrown constantly, and it really slows down the game.

3. Commercials.

4. Roger Goodell. Particularly his handling of the Saints, and willingness to bastardize the game.

5. Players not standing for the anthem, and the league's non reaction to it. Straw that broke the camels back for me.

No, but my interest in college football is minimal at this point. I do like Lamar Jackson though.

I first started to lose interest when the Rams left Los Angeles. I don't watch pre-game or post-game shows (except for the Superbowl pre-game).

I tend to watch Red Zone on Sundays to track my FFL players in near-real time, and the Sunday / Monday night games I'll only watch if it's a really good matchup.

None of the political stuff players are doing affects my interest one way or another. I think the product on the field has suffered some, though.

Has for me. Definitely feels like it's peaked. Heck, I really enjoy fantasy football yet am starting to not even really care that much about that.

Just get ready, because 2-3 elite American athletes becoming world renowned soccer players is going to change things forever and specifically for the NFL.
