How so? If the girl's life is deemed to be worth more than this guy's policy limits, why shouldn't her family be able to go after him personally?

Its bullshite that a rich person is treated differently than anybody else.

Like the family hit jackpot because a rich guy was responsible for daughter's death.

Hate that mentality.

I'm truly sorry for the loss of your friend, LL. Tragic any way you look at it. Loss of a child is unimaginable.

[quote] I am fully aware there are others involved and guiding him. Doesn't sound like he was the best decision maker to begin with. I just think there's a point where being a bit human might be the best course of action. His attorneys had to anticipate that as soon as the family knows who this guy is and sees all of his info being erased, they're going to take it further. They had to see how shady this was going to make him look. They had to know the media was going to dig into who he is connected to and blast it -- making it look even shadier.

All of this would have have happened whether he made a call to the family or not. A lawyer would have advised not to call and say "I'm sorry" in all likelihood. He's got a wife and a child. If I'm him and a lawyer says "don't call", I'm not calling because I'm going to do what I need to do to protect my own family first. Would be hard not to call, but so be it. I really wouldn't be worried about whether I look shady or not. I'd be worried about my family and trying to figure out how I was going to live with myself and the harm I've caused to my own family and someone else's.

And, to whoever said deleting his info from the internet was some way to escape liability is wrong. It's not like his past is going to go away never to be found again. That's laughable.

I don't think this family believes they hit the jackpot. They lost a daughter. I think they may in the future want the guy to feel some repercussions for his alleged negligence, not just let the insurance company take care of it.

If it was my daughter and someone was negligent in her death, I would not give a shite about the money, but I would want that person to feel the most pain possible criminally and civilly.

It really is one of the most worthless multiple page threads I've seen on here. Not sure of the point of half the damn post.

Let's just let the system play out a little and see where it goes.

Courts can award over the policy limits to anyone. Doesn't matter if you are rich or not. The problem is collecting. You'll never be able to collect against a poor person personally so lawyers don't ever bother pursuing it.

Besides, if he's driving a Lambo and owns multiple businesses, its likely he has a huge policy. The family will never get above it I wouldn't think.

The civil case, if there is one, will be interesting. Such a sad story.

Here's a NOLA piece about the girl

quote:

Moreover, DeBosier said, instances of Adams' name and photos being removed from websites in what he called a possible effort to "scrub" his identity from the Internet give him "legitimate concerns that this guy might be fleeing." Shlosman responded that Adams has a wife, children and parents in the New Orleans area, and "he's not going anywhere."

Yes.

That car will get away from an inexperienced driver very quickly.

You asked if there was possibility and the answer is yes.

I know Brett pretty well. Great guy and my heart goes out to him and the family. That being said, I am quite certain he would want Louisiana Lady to just shut the frick up and leave the thread. Looks like the death of her friend took a back seat to her little internet vendetta a number of pages ago. Start another thread to whine in. Geez.

Couldn't agree more. She seems to be acting like she's all knowing when she really is pretty far removed.
