I’ve watched the young man play a handful of games. Super athletic but plays in spurts…will disappear for chunks. But he’s young, who knows. Definitely one of the top kids in BR though.
Neither of the two are great. Nugget used to be awesome. It’s been going downhill for a couple years. Maybe even longer.

Crabgrass & Goosegrass post emergent

Posted by igotit on 8/17/26 at 10:31 pm
I’ve got a good size section of my yard with a lot of crabgrass and some goose grass. I know it’s best to treat this with a pre emergent when the soil temps are lower. But what should I do today? The grass type in this area is centipede with some Bermuda creeping in.

Ideally I’d like to treat my whole centipede yard with whatever I use rather than just this one area. I would be treating about an acre total. I have a tank sprayer that I can broadcast. I did spray with MSM turf about 8 weeks ago to treat for VBW. It didn’t touch this other stuff at all.
Ian Edmond is very good. Another year of development and he certainly could be at a good d-1 school.

The Ford kid that was at Ruston is a better prospect. But Edmond is the real deal.
Yeah it’s a joke. There is no metric to determine the gulf states awards.
Raby gets all kinds of accolades for being a great rules official. He is away at all of the majors and other tournaments. Wonderful…..but it does nothing for the job he holds.

How many times have you seen him with boots on the ground at the courses? Rare if ever. He may be a nice guy but he is not effective in running the golf operations for BREC. He’s ruined the tournament schedule for BREC. Just wait until they pour money into City and leave it under the same direction. It will be a waste of money just like the money spent at Dumas and Clark. Leadership starts at the top.

The attitudes at some of the courses are pretty rough. The ladies working the snack window at beaver creek are a prime example. And the bathroom at the place is disgusting. I could go on for hours about the ineptitude at BREC.

Crabgrass or something different?

Thoughts on what weed this is? I’ve sprayed MSM turf and Cryder and neither made a dent. Primary grass is Centipede with some common Bermuda mixed in.

What can I hit it with to knock it out?

Trying to post image from Imgur and can’t get it to work. Any idea?
If you have VBW in newly sodded zoysia, id be talking to the landscape contractor who did the work. If it was truly in the sod, id be requesting some sort of fix. Either treatment in the future or some sort of return in compensation.

But…. I have a hard time seeing a sod farm selling sod with VBW. It just seems more likely it was already in your yard.

What is the label rate for MSM for this time of year. Per acre.

VBW
Showing up bad right now. Hit it with Celsius at the end of April. Knocked it back good but now I have some new areas of growth. I know we are getting to temp issues.

What should I spray now? About an acre of mostly centipede. A little zoysia and Bermuda mixed in as well. But 90% centipede. I have MSM turf on hand. Is that good? Recommend something else?

What club you a member at?

re: Am Qualifying Santa Maria

UC and CCL have NO interest in hosting a LGA qualifier. The LGA would LOVE for them to host, but it will not happen.

The only clubs in the BR area that will host are SM, BC, Greystone, Island and maybe Copper Mill.

BC is the best option of those to me. But the qualifier location is selected by the LGA board member (or members) that are from that area. My guess is whoever is the board member from BR likely is familiar with the staff and/or course (Santa Maria). SM is more than acceptable and/or capable to host a qualifier.

Is Celsius or MSM Turf more effective

Virginia Buttonweed

Seeing a ton of it already. Anyone else seeing it pop up? Already treated with MSM turf so should see it dying off. Just curious if it’s trouble for anyone else this year so far.

Everyone says Poa Annua gets resistant to herbicides. Whats the explanation for a course like Fennwood Hills to have ZERO poa?
It’s not approved for residential use. Pretty hard to get in any quantity.
Yep. Msma will crush all those weeds and leave just your Bermuda. Then fertilize it.

If you’re not gonna resod the whole yard and instead go with seed, I’d just keep what you have and hammer it with msma.
lol, is someone other than BREC going to run it? If not, good luck.
