I think the issue here is that the lane has been rather recently marked. But no indicated of "no parking" has been made.
When Capital Heights was redone they added no parking signs too.

The closest I get to riding my bike in Baton Rouge is either Hammond or Lafayette, far too many morons in that city.

Yeah, I agree. They are failing big time throughout the entire state when it comes to truly educating the public. You can't just throw down some lanes and a couple signs and expect it to work.

i didnt say it was a negative. Certainly one small bike lane on a residential street isnt this massively positive thing for the city though

No but it's is a start to move this city in the right direction. More bike lanes throughout the city is better quality of life, through property values, less traffic, etc.
Also, didn't mean to insinuate that you thought it was a negative.

The problem is that there isn't anywhere for people to park if they have company over, a party or are having work done on their house.. The street isnt setup for one or the other. The street needs to be shared by both residents and bikers.

I think the vast majority of cyclists you meet would say this is all they are asking for. If you eliminated all bike lanes and had an environment where they could safely coexist, I don't think there would be a huge demand for a bike lane.

FYI I ride a bike and have ridden it on Glenmore though I wouldn't consider myself a "cyclist". It shouldn't be difficult to maneuver around a homeowner vehicle on Glenmore without crying to the police and creating this situation. If bike lanes are removed the entitled cyclists did it to themselves.

It's a fine idea if you have the infrastructure to keep cars and bikes separate and safe. But you have to start somewhere with adding bike lanes to existing streets.

Can't really blame the residents. I'd hate to have a bike lane in front of my home too. Makes having guests over difficult.

sure have. i've also witnessed more than 1 person i know roll over the top of a car on baton rouge streets because someone wasnt paying attention. you cant convince me riding a bike around the majority of this city is a good idea. bike lanes are not fixing that
