Like daily? How long did it take before you started hating your job due to that? Is it worth a 40% pay bump to take a job requiring that (assuming you won't relocate closer to said job)?

I drove 110 miles every day for almost 7 years. I didn't mind it at all as it was mostly interstate and I was going the opposite direction of all the traffic.

If your stuck in traffic the whole time that's a big dofference.

If you made $50K a year before, a 40% pay increase means you will make $70K now. That's a big jump. Definitely worth the drive.

Yes. Just have to be more time efficient.

I've done it 3 times a week for several years now. I complain about it in my head from time to time, but it's worth it to live where you want to live. You have to go where the money is, and honestly you get used to it after a while. Howard Stern Show and Audible.com help ALOT.

I drove 100 miles one way daily for years. it gets old real quick. Half of that distance could have been ok.

I live near Shenandoah and work near College/Perkins so it's basically 45-60 mile commute (at least time-wise). I can't stand it.

Nope, but 5 miles feels like 50 when the bridge is shut down

It would depend on what the drive was like and how much I enjoyed my job.

If I were having to fight big-city traffic jams every morning and evening - It would get really old, really quickly.

If it were a non-stressful drive that took me to a job that I loved, a 40% increase in pay would be well worth it.

I currently drive about 35 miles one way. I would gladly drive 60 miles for a 40% increase.

70 miles each way.

It tests your sanity when the traffic is bad. Usually, it's an hour and 10 minutes each way and it isn't that bad.

Used to drive 85 miles one way (170 miles total) for nearly two years. It wasn't bad for about a month or so but then it got to the point where I just couldn't wait for the weekend, even more than usual. Eventually, it started to make me hate my job because I was exhausted all of the time. Finally I had enough and found a job with a 10 mile one way.

I'm loving life.

I've drive 66 miles each way. I work shift so its not more than 2-3 days in a row. Where I live you are either a logger or a chicken farmer so the drive makes sense for me. The place we live more than makes up for the drive. The worst part is getting up in the morning.

I did it for a year and a half (NOLA to BR). I would do it in a second for a 40% raise.
