I realize this dead horse topic has been beaten to a pulp, and Mike Tyson bit an ear off! But what kind of SERIOUS suggestions can the rant offer to make the issue go away?

One idea is to allow fans leaving early to give, or even sell their ticket "stubs" to fans outside who want to get in to see the rest of the game (especially if it's a "good" seat). It could add revenue from more concessions. Is this plausible or just a bonehead idea that would never work?

Efficient play from our offense and defense that results in close games against quality opponents.

Invent a time machine.

Although it's not the case EVERYWHERE, it's clearly a problem for many programs in the nation. We notice LSU the most because many of us here are ticket holders and we see first hand the stadium empty.

The whys are plentiful and make a certain type of sense. All games are televised, viewing at home can be more comfortable and certainly cheaper than going to games, traffic, etc. Those things don;t force me to leave, but I can see the appeal to others.

Point being, this is the new normal. Games will now always be televised or TV's that are just going to get better while traffic will remain the same or worse and prices will go up. A large part of what made going to games such an experience that you couldn't leave has been stripped away by the advancements in technology.

As for me, I still look at going to games as a privilege that I am lucky enough to be able to do 7 or 8 times a year. I head up the escalator 2 1/2 hours before kick off, and I stay until the end. I wring every drop out of this experience, because when the season is over, I won't get this opportunity again until the following year. But that's me.

I believe someone brought this up in another thread, but fans arrive late and leave early in a lot of stadiums. It's becoming more common, and it's probably due to a lot of reasons.

Close games that are meaningful in some way are about the only exception.

I think it's more of a trend everywhere and a reflection on our modern society more than it is an LSU-specific problem. People want flashing lights and information and entertainment from many sources RIGHT NOW. You don't get that sitting in a stadium for 4 - 4.5 hours. People want air conditioning and couches and access to alcohol, food, large groups of friends, all the other games, music of their choice etc. It's sad, but it's the direction we're headed everywhere, not just LSU.

Selling beer and allowing one re-entry per game couldn't hurt, though.

Stop giving the leavers-early all this attention. It only enables them.

Serious answers that wouldn't be difficult or expensive to achieve:

Free wifi
Working cell service
Show other games on the big screens at EVERY timeout and not just sporadically

Really, two things:

1) Close games
2) Alcohol

When I was a student, I would drink like crazy before entering the stadium, but by the end of the 3rd quarter, I would be sobering up and getting that hangover feeling, which doesn't feel too great in a stadium full of yelling people.

Add to this that all games now are televised, which makes the games last a hell of a lot longer. That's just more time to sober up. Sell alcohol and this problem is solved.

one word beer.

or you could station security guards outside the exits saying people can't leave. That could work to, but probably would be frowned upon by a lot of people.
