re: SERIOUSLY: What's the best way to keep fans in the stadium?

Tigerfan420, You list Buckhead, GA as your location. Do you attend all home games because we really need all the out of town fans who don't like to see empty seats (while watching on tv) start attending games. This will solve the problem and HOPEFULLY end the threads on this subject.
To Earn Your Keep, I only make 1 - 2 games a year. I WISH I could make all the games, but not financially possible. I do make all games in Athens when we play UGA, and cheer/yell as hard as I can.
I made this post because of the negative crap I see and hear on the national scene about Tiger fans leaving at halftime and the half full stadium. Last Saturday night was the exception and I applaud all fans at the game. It looked and sounded great on TV, and reminded me of the "good old days" when I was at LSU and hardly anyone left till the end!!! (late 70's/early 80's) when we did not have nearly the wins we do these days!!!!!
SERIOUSLY: What's the best way to keep fans in the stadium?
Posted by Tigerfan420 on 10/21/14 at 7:25 am
I realize this dead horse topic has been beaten to a pulp, and Mike Tyson bit an ear off! But what kind of SERIOUS suggestions can the rant offer to make the issue go away?
One idea is to allow fans leaving early to give, or even sell their ticket "stubs" to fans outside who want to get in to see the rest of the game (especially if it's a "good" seat). It could add revenue from more concessions. Is this plausible or just a bonehead idea that would never work?

re: Realistic New Coach
Posted by Tigerfan420 on 10/6/14 at 12:34 pm to SwampyLSU
First, we need a school to take Miles off our hands. That is Michigan. Hoke is history there and it gives Miles a great excuse to bail on LSU. New HC is Stoops from UK. He would jump at the chance to coach at LSU, and he has the knowledge, skills, and name to be the man here.

I think/hope you are right. The players and coaches should be PISSED about the debacle in TS last Saturday night....Completely unacceptable!! This weeks practices were hopefully as hard and ugly as it gets. I even hope a few fights between players happened to show some anger in all these blue chippers who think their next stop is in the pros making millions before making the first tackle, handoff, block or pass.

Agree - It's time to play "new school" football! We got beat by MSU because they have changed..... Tigers have not. I'm sure our O-line and RB's love it, but it is VERY easy to defend, and it's got to change to keep up with 2014 football.
We should try a drop kick to top off the Les Miles philosophy!!!

LSU baseball, AGAIN, keeps LSU in the national spotlight, and without any off the field issues. Thank you coaches and players for making me proud to be an LSU fan!!!!!!!!!

Most of the time I agree and like him, but sometimes he is way off base. But, he is a home boy and gives our state a good image most of the time..

Iowa golfer person..... thanks for the post. I like reading what (honest) opposing fans have to say. What you didn't mention was our defense played one hell of a game after a poor season.
Good luck Iowa.

SI MMQB comment on Matt Flynn
Posted by Tigerfan420 on 12/30/13 at 10:31 am
by Peter King:
My current problem with quarterback-prospecting …
… revolves around Matt Flynn. I look at Oakland, where Flynn was shipped in the offseason, and I see the Raiders floundering at the position after cutting bait with him nearly three months ago. I see the Bills, who did the same after a short trial with Flynn when E.J. Manuel was down. And I say: You’re telling me Matt Flynn couldn’t have helped either team, either playing or by providing depth? I say this after watching the Packers for the past month, because Matt Flynn saved their season. Matt Flynn made the return of Aaron Rodgers Sunday in Chicago relevant. Without Flynn, Scott Tolzien would have given it the ol’ Badger try … and failed.
There isn’t a team right now in the NFL that wants to hand Matt Flynn the reins to run the team for the next five years. Understood. But the cavalier treatment of him, particularly in a quarterback-needy place like Oakland, troubles me. When I was in training camp with the Raiders, I remember GM Reggie McKenzie telling me Flynn wasn’t the most gifted athlete with the biggest cannon, but he was smart, confident and the right guy to lead the Raiders in a time of transition. Boom. Ten weeks later he’s on the street.
Finally back in his comfort zone, Green Bay, Flynn orchestrated a tie and two wins in his five games. He was good, not great. But I would submit that if you watched Flynn in the second half of the Minnesota tie and the two wins (Dallas and Atlanta), you’d see a quarterback who belongs on the roster of a good team, and starting for some teams. After trailing Minnesota (20-7), Atlanta (21-10) and Dallas (26-3) early in the third quarter, Flynn led Green Bay to 65 points in the three second halves and put up these numbers:
Completions/Attempts Completion % Yards Yards per Attempt Touchdowns Interceptions Rating
42-68 67.6 526 7.74 6 0 120.1
Bottom line: If you know what Flynn is as a quarterback—and former Packer exec McKenzie did know what he was—why be impatient with him? Especially when the realistic goal of the Raiders this year should have been to get the quarterback right for the future. Based on the last month, Oakland has zero idea who its quarterback is for 2014.

re: Anyone On The Board Still Honestly Believe Saban To Texas?
Posted by Tigerfan420 on 12/13/13 at 2:36 pm to DeltaDoc
Folks,
- Money is not an issue at all.
- What Saban says or does not say at this point or any other point means NOTHING. The man has proved many times that he will not be honest (lie) no matter what the situation is. Bama and Texas fans should get this through their head....NOW
- As an LSU fan, I have seen Saban lie and/or spin the truth with no regard for what the fans want or think.
- I believe Saban will even lie to his own family about what his intentions really are.
- Saban's ego must be stroked no matter who it involves because he is ate up with short man disease.
- He will be at Texas next year....that fits his MO.
- I don't really give a shite one way or the other, but Saban is all about Saban! He has no loyalty to anyone or anything except himself... PERIOD! He has proved this time and time again, and each time he sais before splitting the scene that he loves where he is at and would never leave.
Saban is a great coach, maybe the best college coach ever, but if he stays at Bama I will be very surprised, and maybe even give him an ounce of respect.
