So, you eat healthy 99% of the time, but can't enjoy a meal with your girlfriends family.

What is wrong with you? It's ok to eat something that's been deep-fried every once in awhile. It's not the end of the world. If you are staying away from things that are buttered, then you may be ignorant to what healthy truly is.
It's also easy to tell the waitress "I'd like my eggplant grilled instead of deep fried".

I'm going to a dinner this evening with my girlfriend. She and her family are celebrating her mother's birthday. I've been anxious the entire week, wondering what restaurant she would choose because I realize that my girlfriend's family isn't very health-conscious.

Ok I've read enough.

You suck.

It's their birthday. They shouldn't have to cater to you. I have food allergies and don't expect family/friends to cater to me. If you don't want to eat it, don't. But don't be a big pussy about it either.

I'm a little pissed off at the restaurant choice to say the least.

This is an excellent opportunity to fat shame your GF's family. Order some water and then tell your GF's mom that she better enjoy her dinner, because it will probably be her last one. Your GF will likely get the message and go puke her pizza up in the bathroom to avoid getting fat, then she will swallow your semen later that night since it is low cal. Win-win for you bro.

Don't be so selfish. Tonight's dinner is not about you. Such it up and go with the flow. A little fried food might loosen you up a bit.

I'm not usually one to say "stopped reading here"....

But

Why the frick does her parents have to plan HER birthday around you?

Also, they are taking their daughter out for her birthday. You are a footnote. The fact that I'm having to explain this to you just made me realize that you got mad bc they didn't eat like you for their daughters birthday. I don't even.

at least you have some family to go out and eat with.

my mom lives by herself about 2 hours away from me. My younger brother lives up in NYC by himself. My older sister and her family live the nearest to me but they have a decent sized family so they always have a lot going on.

my dad died when I was 18.

just try and enjoy spending time with them. Who cares if you don't eat?
