According to the news, sports, entertainment, etc., America is a horrible, oppressive society full of violence and oppression everywhere.

I wonder why?

Haven't Liberals pretty much governed the social/cultural narrative for almost 50 years?

Why are things so bad? And, they seem to keep getting worse.

People are more miserable and aggrieved than ever.

It is almost as though we don't have any answers for what ails us or the answers that we have been working from for the last couple of decades aren't working.

Man, America is horrible. Apparently.

It's because happiness in the US is not Equal. Of course, it's not equal anywhere. But liberals are more bothered by this natural state.

Americans have more purchasing power than any other peoples, more access to consumer goods, access to revolutionary medicine that other western nations could only DREAM of having.

We are victims of our own extremely high expectations. Even when compared to Western Europe, America is wealthy as shite.

Great Britain would be the second poorest state in America, barely ahead of Mississippi.

Well, this country has pumped out an unrealistic idea of what the "American Dream" was. This has resulted in people being disappointed, no matter where they end up.

We are also use more antidepressants than any other country.

Because we've reached a point where everyone needs to be offended and upset by things. Survival needs are covered so people need to find another issue.

errr, what planet do you live on cause this is not reality.

Granted pop culture is a dredge of waste and is terrible but its not liberal, or conservative. Its just garbage.

and ftr, most of the bitching these days comes from the right. The left has always been insistent on whining, and has for my entire life. But this new theme in the republican party that everything sucks and its all obama's fault is relatively recent.

America hasn't been working since 1913. America ceased to exist with FDR's bankruptcy of 1933.
What we're experiencing now is just the snowball effect from that, which will continue to grow because Americans have been successfully sedated.

Bad news sells more advertising.

Plus, I know a lot of people who aren't happy unless they are miserable.....

Funny. You could make the same arguments about conservatives. I hear constant belly aching and whining from conservatives of how things are going down the tube.

When people have too much free time on their hands, they usually find something to complain about. We have such an abundance of everything including time that it's inevitable that this will happen.

I'm pretty happy.

I also believe the idea that America is "Greatest Country On Earth" is antiquated. Though, people still hold on to it so it leads to inevitable disappointment.

Because the likes of Rush and Hannity push fear and hate to millions on a daily basis.
