What could revitalize downtown BR?

Went down there last night for dinner and it was dead. I mean, ridiculously dead, even for a Wednesday. What can be done to reclaim the area and make it somewhere people want to be? What can give life to the arts and create a vibrant city center and thus promote gentrification?
Is there any hope? If you had some stroke, what would you do to make that happen?

Strippers and blow.
Seriously though - isn't downtown BR in pretty decent shape?

You must be pretty young. Downtown BR is quite healthy compared to say 10 years ago.

They could bribe the police to ease up on the checkpoints.

I agree. Downtown in the last decade has been revitalized. It still has a ways to go but it's come a LONG way

Downtown Baton Rouge is awful. Vicksburg, MS has a better downtown.

When I started lsu in 93, we were excited to have Outback steakhouse and Ninfas come to town. We went to the Cortana Mall for best shopping and Siegen Village for new Movies. Tigerland and chimes Street(and caterie and Bengal. Sorry) was all college kids had to do. Old losers like my age now went to Triple A and Center Stage.
Downtown had.... The Shelter. Classic haunt but not nearly what you have today. Be grateful, grasshoppers. And more is coming.

I can't imagine anything getting people to drive downtown on a Wednesday night. Or anywhere for that matter, other than real cheap drinks for college kids.

Actual downtown living space with amenities that support living downtown - grocery, shopping, pharmacy, dry cleaning etc. Right now not many places to stay for residents.

Downtown Atlanta is the same way. It's hit or miss anywhere. I struggled to find a decent place to eat then drink when staying by Centennial Park. It's a Wednesday Free! Stop being a bitch. Text me btw
