When I started lsu in 93, we were excited to have Outback steakhouse and Ninfas come to town. We went to the Cortana Mall for best shopping and Siegen Village for new Movies. Tigerland and chimes Street(and caterie and Bengal. Sorry) was all college kids had to do. Old losers like my age now went to Triple A and Center Stage.
Downtown had.... The Shelter. Classic haunt but not nearly what you have today. Be grateful, grasshoppers. And more is coming.

Why is that happening? There was a business report article involving some bar owners complaining that their patrons were being targeted and it was hurting their business. Are they not greasing the right wheels?

When you're alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go, downtown
When you've got worries all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help I know, downtown
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk, where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose? The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go
Downtown, things will be great when you're
Downtown, no finer place for sure
Downtown, every thing's waiting for you
Don't hang around and let your problems surround you
There are movie shows, downtown
Maybe you know some little places to go
To where they never close, downtown
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossa nova
You'll be dancing with 'em too before the night is over happy again
The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go
Downtown, things will be great when you're
Downtown, no finer place for sure
Downtown, every thing's waiting for you
You can always go, downtown

Port Royal Bar expansion?
Did that thread last night get whacked? I came back to see if the guy posted the whole story and the thread was gone.

When was downtown BR ever "vitalized" in the first place?
Posted on 3/21/14 at 1:28 pm to Goldrush25
I grew up in Nola so seeing downtown BR the first time was weird. In the 90s I used to love riding around downtown BR at night and walking around just to experience a silent empty city

Its really bad, especially as I sit in downtown Nashville. This place is a clean new orleans

Nashville
Nashville is great, but many would be shocked to know that Baton Rouge has a better economy than Nashville. That's according to the Bureau of Labor:
Baton Rouge, LA
Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin, TN
This city and the state in general are doing great atm!
