Hopefully yesterday will get Billy Joel back into touring. He hasn't lost a step.

DMB's set was so great today. Seeing them live will never get old and the pouring rain made it even better.

Great setlist although I'd replace Miami 2017, The Entertainer, and Zanzibar with Matter of Trust, Innocent Man, This is the Time. I would also replace the encore of River of Dreams with All About Soul. Make those changes and add "Pressure" and you have the perfect setlist.
He sang Miami 2017 for Katrina and Sandy. I could do without the Entertainer. He usually plays Angry Young Man to open.. It's awesome live. He could have done that and played Movin' Out second to replace the Entertainer. Zanzibar is incredible.. That's one of my favorites because of the flugelhorn part. He played River of Dreams to be able to put Iko Iko in the middle of the 4 beat rest.. which was great.
So really the only thing I agree with you about is the Entertainer.

I left absolutely drenched. Don't think I could have absorbed more water.
+1
Had some dumb count grab me as I was walking on the pathway to the left of the stage ask that I not walk on her blanket (even though it was somewhat in the pathway). I simply told her to GFY and went on my merry way. The stupid arse thing was already half covered in mud....not exactly why you would take something out there that you completely understand could get ruined.

It's kinda like trying to pick the better one out of two really hot twins....either way it is going to be great.
I wouldn't change the setlist. I thought it was one of my favorite shows I have ever seen at Jazz Fest and I've seen a lot. Neil Young's show a few years back is still at the top for me though.

Yep. Same here.

Those are all good points. The setlist is still great I just would have loved to see those 4 songs added (Innocent Man, Matter of Trust, This is The Time, All About Soul). That would have probably been pushing it time wise though.

Midnight Disturbers, best set of sundays fest.

Agreed on ants being killer and him playing don't drink the water right when it was raining was cool.
I had a blast. It was almost more fun in the rain cause not a single frick was given. It was such a happy crowd given the weather. My first time being at a concert in the rain.

Wish I could make some shows during the week but looks like I'll have too much work to do.
Can't wait for Fiya Fest on Friday

As if JF is not great enough, that's going to be amazing in itself.
When you can see that much great music before 10pm, you are winning.

Yep. I know I am going to be exhausted afterwards though. Plan on being out there from 1 pm to the end. I am getting over a prolonged illness and haven't gotten my energy all the way back. If I could I'd catch either the New Mastersounds or another dose of Dr. Klaw later that night.

Anyone going to try and do Instruments a Comin tonight?
Or dragonsmoke at one eyes hacks tomorrow night?

Was debating on hitting Instruments at Tips tonight but that has to go all night long right? I can't be out that late tonight. I think i might go see Hunter, Skerik and Dillon at DBA at 8, and then maybe Frequinox with Stanton Moore, Robert Mercurio, Donald Harrison, Robert Walter and others after at Blue Nile.

I'm going. Actually, my son will be playing piano as the Tipitina's foundation teen jazz combo will be playing first around 8:30.
I went to all three days of Fest this weekend.
The big ones I saw--Billy Joel, Earth, Wind, and Fire were great, of course.
But for me Fest is all about folks I hadn't seen or even heard about that catch me by surprise.
Three stood out:
Calexico (Gentilly Stage Sunday)--Rock with a Latin tinge, great horns, and killer guitars.
Mississippi Rail Company (Lagniappe Stage Saturday)--all in black suits, piano, standup bass, drum, horns. A mix of rock and swing that blew us away.
Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires (Blues Tent Saturday)--dude started as a James Brown impersonator before he was discovered. Rarely do you see a performer with his energy and voice. He has successfully taken Brown's place as the "hardest working man in show business"!
