Billy J tore up the stage with all his hits and incorporated local favorites like Battle of New Orleans and Iko. Preservation Hall Brass Band even tore up a song with him.

Awesome time overall.

By the way, I'm not a huge national fest goer but is there a festival with a better food selection than j fest?

Billy Joel was f'n AWESOME yesterday. Easily one of my favorite shows that I have seen at Jazz Fest. Preservation Hall coming out during Scenes From an Italian Restaurant was an awesome surprise and fit perfectly.

Meters show was fricking awesome. Aint No Use opener was a big surprise. They brought the jamz all night, really stretching it out. The music got pretty spacy- clearly influenced by Phish. All in all though the funk was strong. Highlights included Handclapping Song, the aforementioned Aint No Use, Africa, and Cissy Strut.

For those going out today, if you leave a little early, go check out 3023 Ponce de Leon. There is a band playing on the yard there called the California Honeydrops. They opened for Dr John last night at Tips and they are great. I saw them at on that yard last year and they are extremely talented

Jazz Fest ticket prices throughout the years

The increase in ticket prices is pretty ridiculous over the years

I hate how everyone complains about this. Yeah I wish it was cheaper too but whatever. $65 to see music all day is still a great deal. I pay triple that to see one band (Phish) play for 3 hours.

not at all complaining. i said on the reddit thread that it's still a great deal, especially in comparison to other large-scale festivals across the nation (Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lolla, etc.). I just hope they don't keep upping the prices over the next few years to the range that those other aforementioned festivals have

Don't laugh at me because we have separate tastes in music, sir.

Agreed. My taste in music is about as eclectic as they come (made it to JF, Voodoo, International, BR Blues, and BR Symphony last year and looking forward to JF next weekend. If we all liked the same thing, there would be no need for a festival, just a single stage. Diversity makes the world go round.
