Jazzfest Thread
Posted by CheeseburgerEddie on 4/26/13 at 12:44 pm00
I'm sneaking out of work in an hour, going home to change and hitting the fairgrounds. I've been looking forward to this for nearly a year. Ever since I moved here.
Anybody else going today?

I've hit a couple of pre jazz fest shows but stuck at work today. Got a wedding this weekend so no fairgrounds this weekend, but I will hit some late shows.

On my way. going to see Anders, Gary Clark, and Band of Horses. Did Slightly Stoopid last night and they put on a hell of a show. Living the life...

Definitely Gary Clark Jr. I heard Mayer was really good in Tuscaloosa last night. As in he didn't play too many of his own songs so I'm going to heck him out.
I'll probably wander around eat some good food and listen in on the blues or jazz tent until I go over to see GCJ

GGJ killed it last year. Go move by them moving him to a bigger stage.

Did GCJ play a late night show last year?
re: Jazzfest ThreadPosted by CheeseburgerEddie on 4/26/13 at 1:50 pm to Mullen3:16
I didn't hear about it if he did.
Anyone going to that tribute to funk thing at the Howlin Wolf tonight? Or to see the Metermen tomorrow night at the Republic?

Damn. Really holding out hope that he does something tonight. Don't think I'm going to be able to make it out to the fairgrounds in time to catch him.

He didn't do a late show last year. From my knowledge he played JF last year, Voodoo Fest last year, and an invite only SB party. Only shows he did in NOLA in the last 12 months. I would love to see him at a late night show.

Think i'm going to see Dumpsta play P funk tonight and Rebirth play MJ.
Tom night I'm hitting the Maison late night show for Dumpsta and Tryptophunk

Someone is playing James Brown, and then another is doing Sly and the Family Stone. Is think rebirth is closing it with michael Jackson though.
If you can find tickets to that Metermen and Paige show either this weekend or next I would highly reccomend grabbing them. Hey played together some last fall and people were saying the shows were awesome

What does Mayer play at his sets? Cover songs? Does he even have his own music? Anyone go?
re: Jazzfest ThreadPosted by CocoLoco on 4/26/13 at 7:58 pm to Lester Earl
Mayer and Gary Clark both Owned this shite. John Mayer was insanely impressive considering he's just coming off throat surgery.

Both were great i thought. Hell of a way to start this shite off. Lots of good late night shite going on tonight.
Not sure how late I'm gonna go tonight. Gotta try and pace yourself at the beginning.

I just got back from the Fest and let me be the third to say Mayer and Gary Clark Jr. killed it today.
Lester, Mayer plays his own stuff (Tuscaloosa must have been a different type of show). He played about 70% newer stuff and 30% older (better IMO) stuff.
