the original tcm scared me more than any movie ever has, b/c it is somewhat plausible...and i hate the fricking country

most horror movies aren't really scary, but they can make me tense up

movies about possession (like the exorcist) don't do anything to me

fire in the sky is the only movie that i can think of in my head to give me chills

but i was big into alien abduction stories growing up

I'll have to check out Fire in the Sky myself.

That reminded me of The Fourth Kind, recently released on DVD. Still have not seen it yet.

i haven't found a movie really scary since i was young.

amityville horror would be the only one that still creeps me out. i have not seen the new one but i hear it is good.

i actually found the grudge creepy but i am sure most people didn't care for it.

People tend to love or hate this one, but I personally enjoyed Jeepers Creepers.
After that, the first Saw is pretty good (don't bother with the rest)
The Hills have Eyes
The Descent
The Mist
Dawn of the Dead
Just to name a few.

the mist was actually an ok movie. the rest of your list sucks though.

i had high hopes for this one. i liked the movie, but i had a friend tell me he couldn't sleep for 3 days and it ruined the movie for me i think.

There's a Spanish zombie movie out called [REC] that terrified me. It's what the fail of a movie Quarantine was based on.

Good movie.

My pick would go to The Thing.

I've heard the Strangers is messed up scary. The 3 people in the masks are never actually seen? Faces that is.

The first 30 or so minutes of Jeepers Creepers is probably the most freaked out I've ever been watching a movie. Then it just goes to total shite. If you haven't seen it, watch it until they reach the restaurant then turn it off.

The original Ammityville Horror would probably be my second choice. But if you want to get really freaked out, read the book when you are by yourself.

Strangers.

A big reason why i thought it was so scary is because my friend has a camp that looks exactly like that place
