Kenji Kazoku, an upscale sushi restauarant, will open its doors on April 29 in Old Metairie. Kenji Kazoku is the result of a three-year partnership between former LSU and NFL wide receiver Malachi Dupre and Chef Matthew Nguyen.

They also own Kenji Omakase located inside of the International House Hotel in New Orleans and Casa Kenji in Houston, which just opened its doors in December 2025.

Dupre always got a lot of grief for not living up to his hype. A large part of that was coming to LSU during the Miles era where he got little development. I also always felt he had a lot of natural abilities and a good physique, but maybe football just wasn’t a huge passion to him. I remember an article while he was here that he loved to go fishing any chance he got. I’m glad to see he is doing well for himself.

One of my favorite all time recruits! I was really excited to see what he could do at the college level. Just can’t help but wonder what he could have been on a team with a competent QB and OC!

Kenji is actually excellent if you haven’t been.

The Metry location is only going Omakase one day a week I think because Metry.

Me too, that's a tough business, but he seems to be doing well.

He showed us a glimpse of what he could have been in his last game as a Tiger. He was a beast against Louisville.

I did business with him at his restaurant in New Orleans. He is a very nice young man.
Proud that he has had a successful life outside of his football career

Proud of our former players for forging their own paths instead of relying on those who only view them as athletes for employment.

Correct. This one is going to have more of a family atmosphere. Its also about 50 yards from Rock N Sake.

The downtown location is fantastic.
